Peaches !

Hello, This Is Mary,
Welcome to My Blog

PEACHES…

Hello everyone.

I can’t get peaches out of my mind this morning. Oohhh…maybe I need to make a peach cobbler, what do you think? Good home made cobbler with a fresh cup of coffee later today, WoW…it’s on ! !
Now, all I need is a recipe, hmmmmm, think I’ll try this one ! !

PEACH COBBLER
1 package of pre-rolled pie crust
1 1/2 cans of sliced Freestone peaches
cinnamon-just a little
sugar
butter
nutmeg (pinch)

This is one easy peach cobbler that can be made with a store-bought crust and canned peaches.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Move the bottom crust into an 8 in square pan, pinch and shape into place. Put in peaches and juice from 1 can (more if you like), add pats of butter, sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, and just a pinch of nutmeg.

Top with a prepared purchased top crust, pinch and shape over bottom crust to seal. Cut slits and sprinkle lightly with sugar if desired.
Put in 350°F oven and bake until brown and bubbly top and bottom.

I would really love to say that I went out to my peach tree and picked some fresh peaches but I can’t say that, I can say I went to Kroger and picked them right off the shelf. Lol  You may also notice how easy this recipe is, that’s because I’m really not much on cooking, much to my Mothers dismay. :o(  Now that lady could cook, when you sat down to her table you were in for some of the best home cookin’ around. As for me, I like a desk…sit me behind a desk and I’m set for the day.

Back to the peaches….what kind of coffee should I have with this treat? Think I’ll just keep it plain coffee straight for Maxwell House. Wish you were here, I’ll remember to take a bite just for you. {{hugs}} I'll be back later today and give you an update on my cobbler !

Until next time, rejoice in the shadow of His wing.

Psalm 63:7 Because You have been my help,Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.

Forever Friends

PS...I made the cobbler today..have had much better, but it wasn't bad for a "quicky".

Let There Be Light

Willie Dog

Hello, This is Mary
Welcome to my Blog ! !

Come in, so glad you're here !

My daughter just found out her dog, Ozzie, will live only a few more monthes.  He is a beautiful boxer and one of those "special" pets that don't come along very often. You know, one that you forget is a dog, he's Ozzie for cryin' out loud ! !  A part of the family, needless to say my daughter is heartbroken.

All this brings me to Willie Dog....Willie came to live with us when he was just 10 weeks old.  He was my fourth Cocker Spaniel, I love that breed, such loving, loyal dogs.  There's been Michael, Skippy and Sandy, I loved each one of them but Willie was by far the one that became part of the family.  He understood human talk right away, he was house broke within a week and never had an accident after that.  He never chewed on anything and very seldom did he bark.  Now sometime if he heard a noise he didn't like or recognize he would have that low, rumbling little growl down in his throat and then he would look at me as if to say, "What's that?"  He loved Dean and I so much, and was really attached to Rusty.  When Dean was in his music room and I was in my room, Willie would lay in between both rooms so he could watch out for both of us, he was so funny ! !  When I was home alone at night, Willie would lay where he could see me and the front door, he would lay his body down, but would have his head up and his ears perked, he knew he was in charge and taking care of me.   He would stay there until Dean would get home.  As he got older he always wanted to go to bed early, so he would sit down in the hall and stare at me (I would be in my chair watching TV), and he stared until I would get up and go to bed.  Then he would get in his bed, circle around several times and plop down, make a big sigh, and nighty night for him.

Dean and I love to have coffee every morning in our recliners.,..Willie would always get in my lap first, check me out, made sure I was breathing...then do the same with Dean...then curl up on the floor between us.  I bet we looked just like a postcard ! HA....He always greeted me at the door when I came home, I would pet him and talk to him and he would actually smile at me.  He really did ! !  I loved him.

And then one day Willie didn't want to do all those things, he just looked at me with the biggest, saddest eyes.  :((   I knew something was wrong, it happened so fast.  Willie had a rare blood disorder, his blood was clotting...the test tube was just a clot with a little pink liquid.

That was in March, I still miss him at the backdoor, I still miss him on those cozy mornings, I still miss hearing him breathing at night, I still miss his protective behavior and must of all I miss his smile ! !

You were a good boy Willie Dog.

Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind"; and it was so.  And God made the beast of the earth according to it's kind, and everything that creeps on earth according to its kind.  And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:24-25

Sorry to say I don't have a special coffee today.  I just had to settle for good ol' Maxwell House Lite.  It's hot and it's good ! ! Wish you could be here to share a cup with me ! !

I'll leave you with this today...If you're ever doubting yourself, a good friend will remind you that you are strong and smart and that you can do anything...

Please come back for another visit !

A Comfortable Place To Be

Hello, This Is Mary
Welcome to My Blog !

Hi Y'all, the door's open, come on in !

So happy you found time to visit today.

A comfortable place to be, powerful words, comforting words.  Have you ever thought about it?  What does it mean to you?  Is it in your memories, thoughts of childhood when you were safe with your parents...maybe it's your home or your childhood home, your family, your personal quiet time...could it be when you're with someone you deeply love?  In could be God's Word...The scope is wide and place is personal.  Each person probably has a different answer, but the bottom line is, it's an environment where you feel safe, maybe carefree.  Sounds good doesn't it?

A comfortable place to be, that's the comment my niece made when she read my first blog.  Now, she didn't say it was her "comfortable" place to be, but she compared it to a good place.  I can't tell you how much that touched me.  Sounds so simple, yet the impact was so great.  I felt honored, I felt humbled.

Proverbs 16:24 tells us, Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

We just never realize or think about the repercussion the words of our mouth might have on someone else.

I hope you find my blogs a comfortable place to be, maybe not THE comfortable place to be, but A comfortable place to be.

This is my niece Candace....Thank you Candy, your words were sweet to my soul !

I wish you could smell the coffee I'm having today. It's Gingerbread Latte, and it smells so gooood.  Something about gingerbread in coffee didn't really appeal to me, but I forced myself to try it and it is delicious.  Give it a try, you might like it too. :o)

I really enjoyed our visit today, please come back any time.

It's Time to Vote !

Hello, This Is Mary,
Welcome to My Blog

Hi y’all, come on in, hope you have your cup of coffee this morning, I sure do.
Let me see….this morning I’m having hazelnut.

YUMMY, do you smell it? Mmmmm, so good !

All of you know what you should do today don’t ya ? VOTE, yes, that’s right, please go vote for the candidate of your choice. Many things have gone bad in our country, but with that said America is still the greatest of them all. It is a privilege to be able to vote for whom we please, so many around the world cannot do that ! !

Pray today for the candidates in the coming election through whom God will implement His plan for America. Then have confidence and peace knowing that whatever happens, the Lord is still in control!

Can you believe Thanksgiving is just 3 weeks away? Lots of friends, lots of family, lots to be thankful for…Little brother is coming, maybe a nephew, and whoever else needs a place to be, the more at the table the better. Of course, it’s easy for me to say that because I have three wonderful daughters to help out with all the cooking and cleaning ! ! Love them girls…

Oh, I almost forgot, Thanksgiving will bring my grandson Matt home from college ! We miss him so much, it’s going to be a great Thanksgiving. Hope yours is too

This is Matt, a true blessing to his family.

Psalm 92:1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High;

Gotta go for now, hope your day is a good one and hope the Good Lord takes a likin’ to ya. (That’s what Roy Rogers used to say)

Happy Trails, (Roy used to say that too ! lolol)

I'm Actually Blogging!

Hello, This Is Mary,
Welcome to My Blog

Don’t really have a clue why I’m writing a blog…I’ve thought about it a lot but figured I really didn’t have much to say ! ! Then one day I discovered a blog by someone I know, and she has been blogging for over a year..WoW ! Well about the same time my daughter started her blog, hmmm, if they can do it I can do it too. Not that I’m a copy cat, I’m just one that needs a little push, so right now let me just say to my wonderful blogger friend, and my wonderful daughter Tammy, thanks for the push. WooHoo. You will find my daughter Tammy at Wholly Surrendered, hope you stop by and get to know her, I think you'll enjoy her blog.

Let's see, I guess I need to tell you a little bit about myself, I am from the south and I'm sure you'll see a "ya hear" and "bless your heart" on ocassion.  I don't apolize for that, cause I am a true southern belle, and like it ! !…I have had many names..for 17 years I was just plain Mary, then I became ‘Honey’, then I became ‘Momma, then came Granny and now Great Granny, oh dear, how can that be, am I really that old ! ! Alas, I am ! !  Oops, and I am also Aunt Mary ! !  That's a great name too ! !  I have 13 nieces and nephews and 21 great nieces and nephews ! ! And I love every one of them, each one is special in their own way.  Well Goodness, I almost forgot, I'm sister too ! !  How about that...?  And yes, littl brother calls me Sister, just like my Daddy did. I have three of the greatest brothers ever, two are still around, and big brother is now walking with Daddy and Jesus. God has really blessed Dean and I, when it comes to family, our cup runneth over.

I treasure every day, life is so good. My hair is gray and I love it that way. It just reminds me of the many great years God has given me and the wonderful family I have…a very special hubby, we'll be celebrating 48 years together in December,  4 great children, 3 super duper son in laws, 9 precious grandchildren and 5 darling great grandchildren. Amen and thank you Lord.  You'll be meeting them all as our visits continue..

Coffee is my drink, love that first brewed cup every morning. I like all those fancy coffees too, my hubby won’t even consider those “sissy coffees’... humph….but I do and I will share a lot of different flavors along the way ! !

If you stay with me on my journey, you will find I have good days and bad days, but don’t we all? I hope you enjoy the good days with me and stand with me if I have a bad day. You know what’s so wonderful? God is always with me so I know without doubt the bad days won’t last long! He promises to never forsake us and I call on that promise frequently.

Hebrew 13:5b For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

I guess that’s enough for today, sure don’t want to overstay my welcome. I’ll be back, don’t know how often I’ll post, but the door is always open and you’re welcome anytime.

So, if the Good Lord's willin' and the creek don't rise, I’ll see you again real soon, and remember Jesus loves us ! ! Now don't that just make you smile? :o)

Your Friend,

Mary
