Once Upon A Time....

Once upon a time (a few weeks ago) I was very inspired by all the crafters on blogs that I visit.  So much talent, so many good ideas ! !  There was a time when I always had a project going, for reasons I don't even know I just kinda STOPPED..
alas...maybe I suffered from burn out...who knows...
Anyway, as I was visiting all you great bloggers out there, the old "itch" came upon me.  Looking around the room I was thinking....hmmmm.....what can I do?
When what to my wandering eyes should appear,
this boring old pillow...and an idea was clear....! !

So off to my stash these old feet went, and lo and behold I found just what was needed to give this old pillow a new life.  By the way, that's Elvis the Elf you see there, he was born in my sewing room several years ago along with lots of brother elves that now live with family and friends.  Elvis had to stay with me because he has a little problem...his hands are upside down....oh no...how did I let that happen?  So Elvis stayed home with me and every Christmas he and I decorate and cook and listen to Christmas music and just enjoy the beautiful season together.  He is always around to help out and he thinks he supervised this make-over.  HA ! !

So I planned and I played around with several ideas and here is the result....

A work in progress...look at Elvis posing...He thinks he's really cute ! !

Almost done....Elvis, quit getting in all the pictures....

TAH...DAH....it's done...now it has some personality !
Look at Elvis...trying to take all the credit...silly little elf !
There's No Place Like H♥me.
Okay, okay, okay...there will be no peace in this house until I give this pesty little elf the spotlight ! !

This is his close-up...I think all this recognition is going to his head....Bahahahaha

He wanted y'all to check out his fancy leggin's...
He's stylin'

Elvis and I would love to know if you enjoyed your visit, and we would love to get to know you ! !

Please come again...

Jesus, the reason for the season.

Merry Christmas,

Mary

Marvelous Monday !!

This year I was asked by the church to make two Christmas wreaths for the doors into the sanctuary and I accepted with pleasure.  It was a fun project, I enjoyed every minute of it ! !

(grrrrr.....blurry.....grrrrr some more)

Anyway, Tammy brought me the supplies and I got busy ! !  Finished them in one afternoon...

They are so beautiful on the doors at church.

(Sorry for the blurry pictures, I will work on getting that fixed.)

The Christmas wreath signifies:
Eternity
Everlasting Life
Growth
Jesus' Blood
Circle of life that is forever

Since the circle has no beginning and no end, it represents God's love for us, which has no beginning and no end.  The holly branches have red berries and red thorns.  The thorns represent the "thorn of Jesus' crown" while the berries show the blood Jesus shed for us when he was crucified.  Evergreens used in the Christmas wreath shows the strength of life.  It also stays green all year round and represents hope that we all need to live joyously as possible.  Knowing just a little about the meaning of the Christmas wreath helps us understand and better remember the true meaning of Christmas.  Every Christmas wreath is more that just a decoration....it's a special reminder of Jesus, the reason for our celebration.

The circle of a Christmas wreath is a never-ending ring,
A reminder of eternal love from our Lord and King.
The Christmas wreath is a sign of welcome, inviting all to enter in..
A reminder of Christ's invitation for all to come to Him.
The middle of a Christmas wreath is a bare and empty space,
A reminder of what life would be without Christ's love and grace.
So each time you see a Christmas wreath hanging from a door,
May your heart rejoice in the One that Christmas is truly for !

I will certainly be looking forward to your next visit...
Merry Christmas,
Mary

"I Am the Bread of Life"
(John 6:24-35)
God Himself becomes our bread and our truth, both together, unconfused and inseparable. The seed of eternal life lies within them...

Bread is a universal commodity.
Every country in the world has some form of bread.
Even in ancient times they made bread and bread has been found fossilized in many archeological dig.
Bread is associated with life, health, nourishment, and prosperity.
Jesus says, “I am the bread of life.”
This is an exclusive claim.
You can’t get this kind of bread anywhere else.
He is the LIVING bread which came down from heaven
He is the one who gives his flesh,
which is the bread,
for the life of the world
The Source of the Bread of Life–Where does this bread come from?
1. Out of heaven.
2. From the Father.
3. From Jesus.
The Supply of the Bread of Life–What does this bread do to us?
1. Gives life
2. Gives eternal life
3. Ensures that we will participate in the resurrection
4. Puts us in the care of the Father
5. Puts us in fellowship with the Son
6. Enables us to live by Jesus
He and He alone is the bread of life.
The word, ‘Bread’ generally denotes the staple food, the basic necessity for sustenance of life. Thus the staple food of all animate beings, both plant and animal kingdom is bread and has special reference to human consumption. By claiming Jesus, as bread He implied that without Him one could not sustain life rather, He was indispensable for the human life. He is not simply bread but bread of life; the true bread, the living bread, the heavenly bread and thus expounded its eternal dimension. He is necessary not only for life in this world but also for life eternal. Luke’s saying of eating bread in the kingdom of God indicates messianic banquet....

Luke 14:15
When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is the one who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.”

So glad you stopped by today ! !
Merry Christmas
Mary
