Texas Fires

I received these pictures in an email, they were taken by a friend of a friend.  I am sorry that I don't know who to credit, for they are awesome.

For those of you who don't know, Texas is burning!  Fires are all over central and east Texas.  Hundreds of homes have been lost.

Hundreds of families leaving the area with only
the clothes on their back.  Many have been able to
take their pets, many have not.
onThere was one who said he put sprinklers  his
roof and turned the water on full blast.
Desperate for a way to save his home.,

Many have livestock
that have been left behind.
Cattle, goats, pigs, chickens..
Heartbreaking.

,
It's heartwarming to see how fellow Texans have
stepped up to help all involved.
Shelters have gone up everywhere, food and water donations being sent
                                                                 from all over the state.

And the firefighters,
I just can't say enough about them.
Weary, tired, in need of sleep
and yet they keep on fighting.
Trying to save as many homes as possible.

Many volunteers have come in to help, firefighters from all over the state
have come to assist in any way they can..
The land is so dry from lack of rain
that the least ember will ignite another fire,
and so, it goes on and on.
These fires are very close to where I live and yet not close enough
for my home to be in immediate danger.
For that I am most thankful.

So many areas in our country are in weather despair.
It has been a rough summer for so many.
We have the fires, others have floods, others have earthquakes.

I pray for all my fellow Americans
that have suffered from
Mother Nature.

I know God has a plan,
I know He's on His throne,
I know He'll take His children through
these hard times.

With all the devastation around me,
I still rejoice in God's Glory,

I pray things are good for you, wherever you may be.

Rejoice Always

Utensils

Alphbe-Thursday
Today's letter is
~U~
Utensils
Can you even imagine setting
down to a meal and not
having silverware utensils?
I do believe it would be quite
messy.  Are you smiling now?
Really,  just think about it.
Point being..
we take so much for granted,
things we would really miss
if we didn't have them.

What's some small something in
your life that you use everyday
that you would be very inconvenienced
if it suddenly was no more?!

Have a great day.
Thanks Jenny!

On The Porch

Beautiful morning,
having my coffee on the porch.
This is my 7th day of unemployment retirement...
What shall I do today? !
I've worked outside the home for many years,
I've worked inside the home for many years,
and I (and Mr D) raised 4 children.
"Free" days have always been few and far between.
But that was okay, I seemed to like it that way.
So.....back to the question....what to do today?
Well, there's only one thing that comes to mind...

This is the day the Lord has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

That's what I'm gonna do,
Praise God and be happy.

Hope you have a "Praise God and be happy" day too!

Facing The Giants

I watched the movie
"Facing the Giants"
this week.  Even tho it's been out
for several years,
this was the first time for me
to watch it.

The movie centers around a
high school football coach,
his life and his walk with the Lord.

There was one scene where the
team was praying before a
football game.  In the prayer
they vowed to praise God
whether they won or lost.

That really made me think...
How easy it is to Rejoice and Praise God
when life is treating us well.
But do we Rejoice and Praise Him
when life has us in hard times?

The hard times are when
we need Him most...He is our comforter,
hope, strength, provider...
He  guides us through all situations
and when times are hard,
He carries us. Amen!

Are you familiar with the poem
Footprints?
Footprints is about someone walking
along the beach with the Lord,
sometimes he could see two sets of footprints,
sometimes only one.  This person knew God would
never forsake him, and yet the one set of footprints
concerned him and he questioned the Lord...Why?
This is the beautiful reply...
He whispered, "My precious child,
I love you and will never leave you
never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints
it was then that I carried you."

I guess my message for today is...
Always, Always Rejoice and Praise
the One who carries you!.

Hope you're having a
wonderful
Lord's Day.

Rejoice Always
