Mary in Pink

Taking a quick minute for
Pink Saturday
Times a tickin' and I've GOT to go by groceries!!
My pantry is bare!!

Hi !!
That's me and Mr D.
This picture was taken two years ago at Matt's graduation.
(Matt = 2nd grandchild = we love him !!)

This is a tag/bookmark I just made.
I received a bookmark from a dear friend recently and
I loved it so much I made a pattern.
As you can see I've been busy making tags/bookmarks!

Friday's in Texas

San Jacinto Momument
On April 21, 1836, Mexican rule over Texas
came to a dramatic close.
The climax of the Texas Revolution,
the Battle of San Jacinto eventually moved America’s
western border to the Pacific Ocean.
(oops...it really isn't leaning!!! I guess I wasn't holding the camera straight. LOL )

The 570-foot monument stands in the
Guinness Book of World Records
as the tallest monument column in the world.

These pictures were taken last winter, the green isn't so green
and the winter sky is dreary, but the momument stands tall anyway.

Now that we're closer you can see that it's really a big building.
This base is the museum, it hold many artifacts from the
Battle of San Jacinto.

I'm at the base looking up !!
Years ago there was an elevator that
would take you to the top.
My SIL's mother was the elevator operator,
she went up and down this monument many times.
Myself....I never could find the courage to go to the top!!
(chicken ~ chicken ~ chicken)

The oak trees are huge and beautiful.

We only live about 20 minutes from this park
and have visited it many times.
The Battleship Texas is also anchored here,
but that will be for another
Friday in Texas.

If you would like to know more about
the Battle of San Jacinto you
can visit their website

Have a great week-end!

Peace and Chats on the Porch

Peace is my special word for 2012.
I found this on facebook today and
just had to share.

Peace does not mean to be in a place where there
is no noise, trouble or hard work.  It means to be
in the midst of those things and still be calm in
your heart.

For me, that peace comes from my
relationship with Jesus Christ.

Now it's time to visit Patrice at Everyday Ruralty
For

Every week Patrice ask five questions,
a great way to get to know each other!

So, let's get to it...

What's your favorite day of the week? Why?
During my working years it was Friday...of course
because it was time for two days off !!
Now that I'm retired they are all my favorite
because I'm free to do whatever comes by way!!
.....  most of the time  ; )  ....

Do you have a blog?
Please tell us the name of it and how long you've had it.
As a matter of fact I have two blogs.  I started
'Visits With Mary' in October of 2010.
I just recently began 'Waiting at the Gate.'
You're all welcome to visit me there!!
Visits With Mary (that's where U R now)

What's the last book you read?
If you're not a reader,
please tell us about the last movie you saw.
I am currently reading Frank Peretti's new book,
'Illusion'
His books are so 'deep' it takes me a while
to read them.

Do you ever doodle with a pen or pencil
while something else is going on?
It's very hard for me to talk on the phone
and not doodle.  I am a doodler at ♥.

Tell me about your bathroom towels.
What color are they? Do they all match?
I have a 'thing' about 'things' matching!
A lot of my towels are old and worn, but
they do match!

Always fun to visit the Farmhouse Porch!

PA-LEEZZ

I haven't been 'Junkin" in a while.
I love it but I've got so much junk now I don't have
room for much more.

Gee, what's a lady to do?
~sigh~

I've thought of having a garage sale...
truth is I love my junk and I don't want to
get rid of one piece.

~sigh~

Mr D ~ ohhh   Mr D

Can I please store another box of junk treasures
in your garage?

PA-LEEEZZZ

hmmm...maybe he'll feel sorry for  little ol' me!!
