When I was a little girl I would always say, “Cross my heart and hope to die!” I did this to reinforce my promise for whatever the situation. Did you ever do that? I can still see myself crossing my heart and sincerely offering my promise
Can you imagine God doing that? No? Neither can I. We serve a sovereign God who has no need to utter, “cross my heart and hope to die.”
His promises are backed by the honor of His name. Psalm 138:2 says, “I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name.” Psalm 145:13 tells us, “The Lord always keeps his promises.”

Our God is a promise-keeping God. He gives us promises so that we can trust and depend on who he is and what he says. Paul says in Romans 4:21, “(Abraham) was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.” And so we too, can be blessed by Standing On The Promises of God.
