I started my day with early morning coffee out on the porch — just me, the birds, and the Lord. We had the sweetest visit. I didn't stay long, it started getting hot really quick!
There's something about the quiet of morning and a gentle breeze that makes it feel like God leans in a little closer to listen.
Afterwards, I spent the morning happily working on my latest diamond art project. There's something soothing about placing each tiny gem, one by one — like painting with sparkles. It’s slow and peaceful, just the way I like it.
Lunch was a treat! Dairy Queen catered — a crispy chicken strip basket, hot fries, and a little cup of country gravy on the side. Simple pleasures are the best kind.
Mr. D had a music gig in the afternoon, so I was on my own for a bit. But before I had time to miss him, Tammy popped in for a visit — and she brought little Adalyn with her!
This precious great-grandbaby always brings a sparkle to my day. There’s just something about loving on those little ones that fills the soul right up.
I would’ve loved to head back out to the porch swing for a second round of fresh air and birdsong, but mercy — the heat was just too much. {Sigh} Maybe tomorrow will be cooler.
When Mr. D came home, he was beaming.
Not only did the gig go well, but an old friend showed up to surprise him. They had a grand time reminiscing about the good ol’ days — stories, laughter, and all.
We ended the evening with a light supper, I spent a little time on the computer, and read a few pages of Cora before turning out the lights.
Turn out the lights, the party's over
They say that, 'All good things must end'
Let's call it a night, the party's over
And tomorrow starts the same old thing again
Just an ordinary day — but full of sweet blessings if you take the time to count them. ♥
Mary, Tammy is precious. Today, July 1st, is Canada ๐จ๐ฆ Day.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a wonderful day. Count your blessings ๐ ๐ name them one by one. Count your blessings, see what God has done indeed. God bless you, and thank you so much for sharing ❤️

ReplyDeleteHello Mary,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by my blog and for your kind comment! I truly appreciate you taking the time to say hello, and I’m glad you’ve seen and enjoyed some of the poetry I’ve shared on other blogs like Linda’s.
I really enjoyed reading your “Porch Swing Kind of Day” post — such a peaceful and joy-filled snapshot of a well-lived day. I could almost hear the birdsong and feel the breeze as you described your morning. Your reflections are heartwarming, and I especially loved the way you reminded us to notice the blessings tucked into ordinary moments.
Looking forward to following along on your blog — and thanks again for reaching out!
Warm regards,
John
Thank you John, and thanks for stopping by today.☺
DeleteWhat a lovely day and a perfect start to the new month of July.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and good wishes.
All the best Jan
Thanks Jan, blessings and good wishes back to you☺♥
DeleteSweet grandbaby! Yup, loving them brings a lot of joy. The simple pleasures are always the very best. Mary our Sloppy Joes are also tomatoey sauce , onion, bbq type ground meat on a bun but for some reason they started calling the turkey ones Turkey Joes and in some place Sloppy Joes. I guess because they sure are sloppy to eat. In girl scout camp we made Sloppy Joes out of tomato soups, chopped onion, and ground meat with spices. Then they started making it in a can calling it Manwich. Have a good rest of the day! We are only 80 today but expecting severe thunder storms.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I've used the Manwich before!! Thanks for visiting today, Happy July!!!
DeleteYour great grand daughter is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteYour day sounds lovely.
I'd like to give the diamond art a try.
It's a great pass time! ☺♥
DeleteSpending time out on that beautiful porch sounds wonderful! Your granddaughter is darling! This post was so cheerful! Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, I hope you had a great Tuesday☺♥
DeleteOh, sweet Adalyn is so adorable! What a blessing to get to visit with her and enjoy her sweetness! They grow up so fast, I'm glad your daughter brought her by for you to see! That lunch sounds delicious. And starting your day on the porch is the best way to start the day, but I hear you about how hot it gets so quickly. That kind of spoils it for me too. But spending time in the Word even here in the cool house is nice enough. Happy Mr. D. met up with an old friend. That's always a nice treat. Happy for him. Happy for you. Nice day you had. Yes, counting our blessings is a great way to end the day!!
ReplyDeleteI was so glad to hear your good news about John, such a great blessing. ☺♥
DeleteCounting my many blessings is a favorite pass-time that I indulge in at least once a day. God is so good!! Mary, I enjoyed your post today and would have loved hearing some of Mr. D's stories with his surprise friend!! That is so great!! Be blessed!! xo
ReplyDeleteThose two old guys share a lot of memories, I'm sure they have great stories to tell. Blessings to you☺♥
DeleteI enjoyed hearing about your day. In Sunday school this week, part of our discussion was about when we talked to the Lord. Many of us said most of our prayers aren't formal. Just quick conversations when we thought of something or thanking Him for unexpected blessings.
ReplyDeleteYour little Adalyn is precious and beautiful. I can tell how much you love her.
I pray you have a wonderful Wednesday.
Blessings,
Betsy
