About Me

 Hello December 1, 2025

I'm so glad to welcome this wonderful time of year!

A time to celebrate the days up to the birth of our Savior.

Day one, John 1:1-5

The Eternal Word

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not [a]comprehend it.

When Mr D and I finished reading these scriptures we were discussing verse 5 . . . 'and the darkness did not comprehend it.'

So, I found this commentary which explains it well:

John 1:5 conveys that Jesus is the light that shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. This verse emphasizes the contrast between light and darkness, symbolizing good and evil, truth and confusion. It asserts that Jesus, as the light, brings life and hope into a world filled with despair and sin. The idea is that despite the presence of darkness, the light of Christ remains powerful and unyielding, offering guidance and salvation to believers.

All is well here at my little Bungalow by the Bay.  Mr D and I are just living life day by day as the Good Lord provides.

  6. Thank you for this verse. The world can indeed be a dark place, but take heart, Jesus has overcome the world.
I'm looking forward to baking cookies with our little 3 year old granddaughter in London next week. I've never had the opportunity to bake with her so I'm taking her Grandpa's favorite sugar cookie recipe with me and we're going to mess up the kitchen! :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy
