Monday Coffee Talk

Nothing but rain and cloudy skies for days!  I am ready for some sunshine and pretty days. I was away from my blog all last week, no reason I can think of.  Sometimes is a good time to take a break!

Breakfast this morning, one fried egg on toast, toasted under the broiler, one glass of milk and of course, several cups of coffee!

I'm ready for the day, come what may.

On my soapbox: What is it with doctor visits taking so long?  My pulmonologist is prompt, sees me on time, gets things done and wham bam I'm out of there!

Not so much for my PCP

We spent several hours at the doctor last Wednesday morning, and mercy, it wore me out. By the time we finally got home, I took some Tylenol and hardly moved the rest of the day. It was just our yearly wellness check — blood work, questions, and all the usual poking and prodding they do on us “seasoned folks.” The only problem was they were moving at a pace that would make a turtle impatient.

I finally told them my oxygen battery was running low and they might want to wrap things up. That got things moving. They let us go, but they didn’t finish everything they wanted to do on me. {{sigh}} So I’ll be back in August for that last test. Medicare insists on this once a year.

We had to fast that morning because of the blood work they were going to do, so we left the house without breakfast or COFFEE.  We planned to have breakfast at Denney's once we were done, well, needless to say that didn't happen.  It was lunch time before we left, I was tired and cranky so we just went home, hurriedly turned on the coffee pot and enjoyed a cup of brew before eating a light lunch.

Other than all that, we’re doing just fine. Lol

That night I let the lamps glow softly, sipped on another cup of coffee, and got the rest I needed, thanking God that even slow doctor days eventually end.

Thursday came with its own rhythm, and I found myself enjoying a wonderful day . . . at home!

Tammy and Bo stopped by for a visit, and little Adalyn came along. Such a sweet little grandbaby — we sure enjoyed seeing her.

Now, don't get confused, we have Adalyn who will soon be 5 years old, and then Adeline (Addy) who isn't even a month old yet. I'm so glad they are calling her Addy, it will sure save on the confusion. :))

Adalyn - rhymes with gin

Adeline - rhymes with mine

When they left our house, they went for snowcones!

Snow cones taste so much better on the first day of summer vacation!

Sweet little Addy is doing great, lapping up all the love around her.

There’s something so heart-warming about greeting the new week with a warm mug in hand, whether it be coffee or tea, a prayer on our lips and letting grace settle in our hearts for the days ahead. So here’s to slow breaths, small joys, and the quiet confidence that whatever this week holds, we won’t walk into it alone, for He is always with us. May your Monday be soft around the edges and full of little reminders that His mercies really are new every morning.

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NKJV):

"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness"

A little coffee, a little grace, a new week, and life goes on.

For my tea drinking friends, there’s always a cup of hot tea ready, just for you!

SideNote:

On this day in 1933, my mother, Fay, and my daddy, Jeff, were married at the Methodist parsonage in Oakwood, Texas. Their love story began in a small town, but it shaped generations.

Until Next Time

  1. I don't know what it is with these dr.'s lately...mine does the same thing. I had a 3 pm appointment and never got in until close to 5, I was not happy and let them know. I have made a promise to myself: 15 min. I wait no more than that. My time is just as important. So nice to see photos of the younger generation, smiles. Wishing you a beautiful day my friend.

  2. Good morning Mary! Yes, the days have been gloomy with all the cloud cover. I have enjoyed the rain though. And fasting for labs is the worst! Especially when you're the only one in a hurry :) We have an Adeline in our family and an Addie Lynn :)

  3. I don't live in a metro area so, I can get in and out very fast when I see my primary doctor. However its any urgent care/ or ER that can easily take 8 hours. It's so bad, people are thinking twice about going on which is problematic, if they're really sick and need to be seen.
Our rainy season is done and over with so it's sunny days pretty much till the Fall. Even that gets monotonous.

    1. It's amazing how quickly we can change our minds over the weather. I'll be wanting these cloudy/rainy days before the summer is over!

  4. Dear Mary, I love ❤️ the rain, and the smell of the air is fresh and clean.
Your photos are beautiful and heartwarming.

  5. Such sweet baby photos. I can sympathize with the doctor visits. It does get annoying. I try very hard to get the first appointment of the morning so I'll be seen right away. And I'm not even a morning person anymore since I retired. :-)
I also enjoy days at home the best. We're leaving in about an hour to pick our 13 year old granddaughter, Piper, up and then we'll be driving the the Black Hills of South Dakota for a week. It's so much fun to spend the time with her anywhere at all, but if truth be told, I'd be just as happy doing it at home. The older I get the more I understand the sentiment of "there's no place like home."
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  6. Yes, I can see why there might b a bit of confusion with the grands having slightly similar names. We have a Kate and a Caitlin grand girls and my DH mixes them up often.
Mind you, that's not as bad as years ago we had a dog called Jesse and Kate had a BF named...you guessed it...Jesse. To this day is anyone in our family mentions someone called Jesse we all chime in "Jesse the man or Jesse the dog!! Our family is crazy that way lol.

  7. We've had quite a lot of rain and dreary days here too.
I'm happy to say we have a small doctors office here in town and they are very prompt.

  8. I'm right there with you on having to wait for doctors' attention. And what's with this "arrive 15 minutes early" business? Patience has never been my strong suit -- and it's growing weaker every year.
    Those girls are precious!
