Thursday Tidbits

  Let's talk about cucumbers!

Nothing like a cold, crispy cucumber on a hot summer day.

But do you know how healthy they are?

Let's talk some more!

Cucumbers are super hydrating.

Cucumbers are high in vitamin K. - With every serving of cucumbers, you’ll get closer to your daily vitamin K needs. Vitamin K most notably supports healthy blood clotting throughout the body. It’s also important for healthy bone development as a vital precursor to the protein osteocalcin, needed to create bone tissue.3

Cucumbers can help reduce inflammation. - Cucumbers are also full of antioxidants effective at not only killing cancer cells, but also preventing their proliferation through the body

Cucumbers support healthy digestion. - Cucumbers are especially high in soluble fiber, which promotes regularity and healthy metabolism while also working to reduce cholesterol levels.

Cucumbers deliver some vitamin C and potassium. - Cucumbers contain modest, but still noteworthy amounts of both vitamin C and potassium. Vitamin C, also an antioxidant, helps boost the immune system.

Cucumbers may help regulate blood sugars. - Cucumber consumption has been associated with better blood sugar control, having anti-diabetic effects.

I love cucumbers, the health benefits are just a bonus!

Movie Review:

I watched a very good movie on Amazon Prime the other day, On a Wing and a Prayer.

Directed by Sean McNamara, ‘On a Wing and a Prayer’ is an Amazon Prime biographical drama film that tells the incredible story of Doug White (Dennis Quaid) and his family. On Easter Sunday 2009, White, his wife Terri (Heather Graham), and daughters Maggie and Bailey boarded King Air 200 N559DW plane on their way home in Archibald, Louisiana, from Marco Island, Florida, where the White family had been for a week following the death of Doug’s older brother Jeff.

It wasn’t even 10 minutes after the take-off that the veteran pilot of the plane, Joe Cabuk Jr., lost consciousness and subsequently died, leaving Doug with no other choice but to take control of the aircraft. With the help of his wife, Terri, air traffic controllers at the Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center and Fort Meyer Airport, and flight instructor Kari Sorenson, Doug succeeded in landing the plane at Fort Meyer.

This movie was very tense even though you know they survive.

Out to Eat:
We enjoyed a lovely Sunday afternoon, having lunch with our oldest daughter, Tracey, and her hubby, Scott.  Mexican food was on the menu at El Toro Mexican Restaurant, downtown La Porte!
Such a nice visit with two of our favorite people

I took a selfie!!

When you're waiting in the car for someone who is buying groceries, that would be Mr D, and you've played solitaire on your phone and visited Facebook, and you're still waiting, you take a selfie!

Blessing to All
Until Next Time

  7. I'm going to look for that movie. Sounds good.
I like the little cucumbers that come 10 to a package or so, not the big long ones. I'm the only one around here that eats them though.
Nice selfie. It gets boring sitting and waiting doesn't it !!!
