Monday Coffee Talk

Here it is Monday again, and I’m sitting here trying to think of something to say! My life is quiet these days—some might even call it boring. And honestly, it is, but only because health issues keep me close to home.

If I had my way, today would start with a good ladies' Bible study. There’s nothing like diving into God’s Word with a group of like-hearted women. Afterward, maybe lunch with dear friends—fellowship is always so uplifting. And why not go shopping after that? Even window shopping sounds fun. Then home in time for afternoon coffee on the porch with Mr. D, a light supper, and finally curling up with a good book until bedtime. Doesn’t that sound lovely?

Now, while I may not be able to do all those things, I still find joy in the simple moments. I do study my Bible—sometimes online, sometimes out on the porch. Mr. D and I always enjoy lunch together; that’s the sweetest kind of fellowship. Shopping? Well, hello Amazon! And yes, we still treasure our afternoon coffee on the porch, weather permitting. And most days, there’s a good book waiting beside my chair.

And life goes on.

Thank You, Lord.

My Next Book:

I had every intention of reading The Women by Kristin Hannah . . .

. . . but I found Cora!!

Cora faces death, abandonment, bullying, family struggles, attempted rape, loss of a child, and finally redemption.

I hope it's good, stay tuned and I'll let you know!

Family News:

Tracey (oldest daughter) and Scott left out the other morning going to Carlsbad Caverns, from there they visited the Grand Canyon and then went north into Utah for a stop or two.  Then they'll head to their cabin in Wyoming for a month. I'll miss her but it's great they have such a nice place to go.  AWAY from this heat.

Tracey and Family

The cabin sits just outside of Yellowstone Park.

(pictures I've shared before)

Scott shared this picture Saturday morning.  Oh how I wish I was there♥
Cup of joe and 57° go well together.

Happy Birthday to the twins, Jason and Cody♥

Happy Birthday to Tammy♥

Fun Facts:

A group of flamingos is called a “flamboyance”—quite fitting, right?

Ducks are known to have regional accents, just like humans.
Ketchup was sold as medicine in the 1830s for indigestion.
George Washington had wooden teeth, but they weren’t made of wood; they were actually animal teeth.  yukky
In the 1800s, dentures were made using real human teeth.  yukky again

Bible Trivia:
Adam’s name is from the Hebrew word a da ma, which means “the ground.”  That's fitting!!

China is not only the largest producer of textiles and manufactured goods in the world; the country is also the largest producer of Bibles.
This was surprising to me.  WoW

Blessings to All
Until Next Time

  2. Mary, I love this Monday update :) Some of my favorite days (way back) were the days of gathering with friends for a morning Bible study. We all had babies back then, so getting together for an hour to talk about God and life was invaluable. And I love the cabin in Wyoming! What a view! Have a wonderful Monday :)

  3. Yes, I am pretty much right there with you in wishing to be able to do all those special things like before, but health (hubby's and somewhat mine, but not as much mine as his) keeps me from doing much right now. We are in a waiting game, and hopefully will get some answers tomorrow at a doctor appt. for hubby. Plus, like you, the heat keeps us from going out and doing too much right now. Oh, I love seeing those pictures in Wyoming! What a beautiful place! Yes, I would love to be there too! Wow!! The book sounds interesting...be sure to tell us about it. God is good, and we are blessed, and we are very thankful for what we DO have! And I am thankful for our online friendships here in blogland and beyond. They are a blessing to me. Thank you!!!

  5. Your dream day sounds lovely to me, but I also enjoyo being home. Your daughters cabin in Wyoming is my dream. Dennis and I have talked for years about wanted a small cabin in the mountains. When we lived in Spokane, WA, we would often drive around looking at places and dreaming for retirement. Now that we're back in Nebraska, those dreams are not possible, but we can still take our trailer to some pretty places. Just not so isolated from others like the cabin is. We would love that.
The trivia was fun too, with a few surprises in there. Thanks for the laugh about the flamingoes!
    Blessings,
    Betsy
