Nearer is
where I want to be.
I started
2026 with Nearer as my special word.
Today, after some reflection, I’m changing from word to GOAL. It is my goal as the days of 2026 go by that
I will draw NEARER to God.
Goal -
the object of a person's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result:

Hello dear blogger friends. Yesterday was sunny skies and cool, today
we’re back to damp and overcast. Dreary
~ Yet thankfully, my heart isn’t dreary at all. I’m grateful to the Good Lord
for that steady peace He gives, no matter what the sky is doing.
Our days are moving along just fine, nothing
exciting, just peaceful and blessed.
Marvin (Mr D’s brother) stopped by for a visit the other night, it was
good to sit and catch up, hearing what’s going on in his world. Yesterday Tammy met a friend for lunch at El
Toro’s, before going home she stopped by for a visit. Her visits are fun and we enjoy them.
Speaking
of Tammy ~ do you have pet names for your kids.
Mr D gave all our kids one and they have stuck through all the years.
Tracey
is our Tracer-bug
Tammy is
sweet TamTam
Peggy
is Pegg-a-tron….where did that come from?
Russell
is the Rustler
Just
another little something from our world. π
On the menu today is homemade hamburgers with
a little cup of ice cream for dessert. I
enjoy ice cream even when it’s cold outside although it makes me reach for a
sweater, it’s still so delicious that I don’t mind one bit.
We got out for a little ride yesterday—drove
through Lomax by Maegan’s house, then stopped at Walgreens to pick up my meds
and a few other things. After that, it was back to home sweet home.
This afternoon I’m hoping to settle in with my diamond art and enjoy listening to my new CDs.
As I listen, it’s my prayer
that each message helps draw my heart Nearer to God, step by gentle
step.
Until Next Time

I love your goal for this year, Mary! That is my thought as well, to have a more intimate, close relationship with Jesus.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of Ice cream - and my favorite is plain vanilla. I can't have it very often but I sure enjoy it when I do! Have a blessed week.
Yes indeed, plain vanilla is the best!! Hope your week is happy and blessed.
DeleteEver since I heard my father say, he wanted "Nearer my God" to be played at his funeral, that's held a special place in my heart. Imagine, when we first moved here and began attending Robinson Springs, I walked into church on Father's Day and heard the soloists singing it. (Cue to tears!)
ReplyDeleteCute nicknames, you mention! When Troy was very small we used to call him "Tinker Toy."
A song can touch my heart quicker than any words. I love Tinker Toy, that is so cute!!!
DeleteDear Mary, I also love your goal for this year! I love your blog header and the beautiful and soothing purple colour as well!
ReplyDelete:))
DeleteI'm a big fan of icecream as well. My favorite is coffee flavored with caramel topping. sometimes i turn it into a shake using almond milk.
ReplyDeleteSounds like nice peaceful days.
ReplyDeleteYou probably know I like ice cream and have a cup of it in the evening for my snack most every day.
A great goal. Enjoy the ice cream.

A good word, Mary! I like ice cream, too, and the weather is usually fine for ice cream here in Florida! A little too cold right now, though! I enjoyed my visit with you here today! Have a happy week!! xo
ReplyDeleteMary, I eat ice cream all year long. In fact, after my hair appointment yesterday, I pulled into DQ and got myself a Butterfinger Blizzard. Yum! Oh and this weather...sunny one day, cloudy the next. David said the ferry was rocking today!
ReplyDeleteI used to eat ice cream more than I do now. I mostly eat yogurt now with granola and fruit if I have any fresh fruit. It seems to settle in my tummy better than ice cream. I love your thoughts and GOAL for the new year. Drawing NEARER to God is the best GOAL of all! I love your kids' nicknames. We really didn't have any nicknames for our kids. Sometimes we'd make little rhymes with their names, but nothing that stuck. I think they are probably just as glad. LOL. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week.
