Away In A Manger

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14

There are some of us ... who think to ourselves, "If I had only been there!  How quick I would have been to help the baby.  I would have washed His linen.  How happy I would have been to go with the shepherds to see the Lord lying in the manger!"

We say that because we know how great Christ is, but if we had been there at that time, we would have done no better than the people of Bethlehem ... Why don't we do it now?  We have Christ in our neighbor.
Martin Luther
Away in a manger no crib for a bed,
the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.
The stars in the sky look down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
