My Night Light

Do you leave a night light burning in your home?  I sure do.  When I was a little girl I had 2 older brothers, 7 and 9 years older, and they took great pleasure in scaring me.  Oh the things those boys would do....hide in the closet, hide under the porch, take flashlights and hold them under their chins and peep in my window at night. I did what most little girls do...I screamed!  I do smile about it now but those 2 scarred me for life.  Yep, they did.

When I grew up I really didn't need a night light but I always kept one on anyway.  When my children were in their teens I always kept a small lamp on in the kitchen because they always used the back door ~ they never came home to a dark house.

A night light can be a welcoming thing!

Living in this world can be a scary thing at times.  Darkness comes into our life and we can become afraid.  Praise God, there is another kind of night Light ~ another one that never burns out.

In the night seasons ~ He is our night Light.

Send out your light and your truth;
    let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy hill
    and to your dwelling!
Then I will go to the altar of God,
    to God my exceeding joy,
and I will praise you with the lyre,
    O God, my God
Psalms 43:3-4

God's Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our pathway! So, my childish request is Father, please leave a Light on!

God's Light leads us to the path of His will for our lives.

Whenever you are in darkness, whenever you are afraid, turn to The Light of the World to brighten you life.

God's Word the Light of my life!

His Light is always on!

 Until Next Time

  1. Thank you Mary...our house is lit up at night. I have little night lights here and there (my sil introduced me to these cute little modern globe thingies we got from Lowes). No reason, I just like a little light. My brothers use to do the same to me, sigh the memories...and lets not mention the frogs or bugs that were in the bed...smiles.

    Thank you Mary for a beautiful post. I love your nightlight, btw. Blessings

  2. Yes, a beautiful post... so glad we have God's light to show us the way!
    I keep a nightlight on in the hall bath... enough light in there, plus it lights the hall, and there's one in Noli's room for when she spends the night. Fortunately my older brother didn't try to scare me, but I remember witches and bears being under my bed :)

  9. Well, I was the oldest of 4, so my younger brother got to scare my two younger sisters doing things similar to your experiences! I guess I was the lucky one! We do have night lights plugged in here and there...hallway, bathrooms, laundry room. It helps us negotiate when roaming at night, and we can see the cats!! Your post made me think of another light...."this little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine..." Thanks for always making me smile and praise God!!
