Coffee in a Tea Cup

Sometimes I enjoy having my coffee from a tea cup.  There's just something calming about it.

My Momma had a best friend from childhood and it so happens that their mothers were also best friends.  Momma's friend, whose name is Lola, would come to the house for a visit and of course the coffee pot would be brewing. My Momma wasn't a foofoo (From the urban dictionary: When you look or feel frilly, Prissy, made up, High maintenance, overdone etc) type of lady, but her friend Lola, well, that's another story.  Momma always served coffee in mugs and Lola would always ask, "Fay, (that was my Momma's name) Fay, don't you have any nice cups?"  Momma would sigh, but she would get up and pour Lola coffee in a 'foofoo' tea cup.  Precious Memories!

Every time I drink coffee from a teacup, I think of Lola!

Precious Memories...one of life's true treasures.  I'm so blessed to have so many of them!  Momma used to always tell me ~ be sure and make lots of memories, they'll keep you company some day.  As she aged and aged  some more, she called on her memories often, always ready to share them with others.  My Momma lived to be 100 years old.

See my stack of precious books!  Yes they are precious to me.  Great stories of love, encouragement and inspiration, all based on God's Love.

Today I'm sharing from ~
Words of Jesus for Women

Real Love
(Appropriate for February,
don't you think?)

Love your enemies? Seriously?
Does Jesus know what He is asking?
Of course He does ~ let's face it,
it's easy to love people who love you back and treat you well.  Remember that Jesus said the second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor as you love yourself.
(Hope you have good neighbors!)

The real test of Christian love is loving people who are different from you, lie about you, cheat you, say mean things or just generally treat you badly.  If you can love these people and pray for them, then you are truly showing Jesus' love.

Friends, that really sounds so hard to do, and in a worldly state of mind it is almost impossible.  You have to come into agreement with God's Word, you have to leave the world's mindset behind and become one with the Holy Spirit ~ then forgiveness and love will flow from you, just as it flows from Jesus Christ.

I found this quote, very appropriate for today's post.
Trying to do the Lord's work in your own strength is the most confusing, exhausting, and tedious of all work. But when you are filled with the Holy Spirit, then the ministry of Jesus just flows out of you.

This is one of my cross stitches from a few years ago.  I love the scripture...everything is possible with God, even loving and forgiving those who treat you badly.

Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Luke 6:27-28

Hope you enjoyed

  1. Great post Mary. WOW also, it is hard to love others at times, after all we are human. Only in His Spirit are we able to. Have a blessed day!

  2. Lovely memories, and it is good to change things up now and then. Coffee in a teacup is a great way to do that as you contemplate God's love and wisdom.

  7. Oh Miss Mary, I have enjoyed this post today! I would have coffee or tea with you out of any kind of cup or mug! Just being able to fellowship would awesome to me. I think I might be one of those gals they call Well-rounded (Ha!) and not just in the mid-section either! I can drink from the water spigot outside or I can grab some fine china and sip water with you...it's all about the fellowship to me! Love your mama's saying, "Be sure to make lots of memories, they will keep you company some day". Hugs and blessings, Cindy
