Monday Morning Coffee Chat

WoW, it's been a crazy week around here!

There's a dark and a troubled side of life
There's a bright and a sunny side too
Though we meet with the darkness and strife
The sunny side we also may view

Early in the week my son-in-law took a very bad fall.  He was at the top of the ladder stepping onto the roof when the ladder shifted. Down he came.  Only by the Grace of God is he not critically hurt.  He did suffer a broken ankle, which will require surgery to repair.

This is just the temporary cast while they wait for the swelling to go down, then they'll do the surgery.

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side
Keep on the sunny side of life
It will help us every day, it will brighten all the way
If we keep on the sunny side of life

And then there's my hand, my right hand!  Oh no.
Swollen and painful.
It was the craziest thing.
I was at McDonald's, in line to buy a cup of coffee.  It was a very busy Saturday morning and I was going to get my money ready to pay at the counter.  I was holding my purse by the straps in my right hand and digging around looking for my wallet with my left hand.  Somehow, someway, the purse twisted and my hand twisted with it.  It was immediate pain and burning which didn't last long and I really didn't think too much more about it.  I enjoyed visiting with friends for an hour or so and went home.  When I got home I did notice discomfort in my hand and was surprised to see some swelling and bruising.  By Saturday night it was really swollen and very painful.  I kept putting ice packs on it throughout the evening, took some Tylenol and was able to rest well during the night.

Ouch!

Let us greet with the song of hope each day
Though the moment be cloudy or fair
Let us trust in our savior always
Who keepeth everyone in his care

Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, for You are my praise.
Jeremiah 17:14

I did manage to receive a treasure this week.
Tracey and Scott (Daughter and hubby) emptied a storage unit and brought me a couple of great books.  These books belonged to Scott's mother which makes them even more special.
I have thumbed through Christ and the Fine Arts, it is full of poems, stories and illustrations.  Copyright is 1938!  I'm sure I'll be sharing from this treasure in future posts.

Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side
Keep on the sunny side of life
It will help us every day, it will brighten all the way
If we keep on the sunny side of life.

Before I close today I want to say Thank You for the sweet comments that you leave for me.  I read each of them and they touch my heart deeply. I am humbled by your kindness.

Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, (let's say sisters) be tenderhearted, be courteous.
1 Peter 3:8

Until Next Time
Keep on the sunny side !!

  1. Oh my, your hand. Wonder what happened to make it swell like that? Maybe a trip to the doctor today? Love your attitude, my sweet Friend...always seeing the positive. I was told yesterday I have a bad attitude. :(

  2. I'm so glad that your SIL's injury wasn't worse although surgery for a broken ankle is bad enough! My son did a similar thing with a ladder and ended up with a broken wrist and he had to have screws put in place. So sorry about your hand. That does look painful! I love the yellow smilies. We have to keep a cheerful attitude in place, don't we? Have a happy day!

  3. Oh my, that fall from the roof could have been so much worse! He is in my prayers for a successful surgery and quick healing! Now, about that hand! I hope you didn't break one of those little bones we all have in our amazing hands. Take care and please see a doctor if that swelling and the pain don't lessen today! Keep on the sunny side, indeed!!

  5. Oh my goodness, sure hope the surgery will be soon, and your SIL will be ok. That hand looks so painful. Hope the swelling is going down and the pain is relieved very soon. Sometimes, it is hard 'to keep on the sunny side', but we still have to try.

  6. Oh my that's two too many ouch!-s in one post. Hope you both recover quickly. And books are always a day brightener - especially given the topic of those.

  10. Oh Mary, I sure hope your hand is better today. A few weeks ago I fell on mine and it took 2 weeks for the swelling to go down and the bruise to go away. Take care my friend.
