Fall Decor 2016

Fall on the bar, so pretty to look at.  But believe or not...(I'm even surprised myself)...I  am  so ready to put it away and put out Christmas!

Oh yes I am.

I turned on the little orange lights this morning and enjoyed the warm, coziness  the lights bring...drinking my coffee...and thinking....

.....thinking.I want to trade this fall décor for some Christmas.  I never put up Christmas before Thanksgiving.

They say there's a first time for everything.

Good Bye Mr. Scarecrow and Good Bye Pumpkins!

You're going back in the box until next year...because it's time for some Christmas around here!

Should I or shouldn't I?   hmmmm
Am I already having second thoughts????
Oh dear, what to do? What to do?

I can just hear my Momma now, "Christmas before Thanksgiving, well I never."

Yes and I'm one of those people who always complain when stores put out Christmas in August.  Of course, I would never set Christmas out that early!!

Isaiah 9:6-7
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Until Next Time

  1. It's only a few more days...Christmas can wait until after Thanksgiving, can't it? I tend to linger over my pilgrims and pumpkins a few more days after Thanksgiving...trying to get my head in gear for Christmas before I take the plunge...besides, we usually (not this year) have two Thanksgiving dinners...one on Thursday in the past few years was at a relative's camp in the woods, and then we'd have ours here at our house for the rest of the family either Friday or Saturday afterwards, so I couldn't take down Thanksgiving until it was finally over. Hang in there...Christmas will be here soon enough and you can leave it up as long as you want! That's just my opinion....

    1. You're right Pam! We're having Thanksgiving at my daughter's home, so it really doesn't matter....but as much as I'm ready for Christmas décor...it's just not time. With that said, I went to the beauty shop yesterday and it was already decorated for Christmas. That certainly didn't help my 'Christmas itch!' lol

    2. I understand the dilemma. But I just can't even physically think about decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving is totally over. I wish I could wave a magic wand it would be presto, change-o! Wouldn't THAT be nice?
It will be fun to see each other's decorations when we do get them done. Until then, enjoy your Thanksgiving stuff just a little longer!

    3. That would be nice! I don't put out near as much as I used to...just too much work. The Nativity, a small tree and lot's of lights works for us!

  2. I am getting a head start on Christmas decoration today, just a couple things. I also found Christmas cards this morning at the grocery store. But I will force myself to wait to send those out. ;-)

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. You certainly have done a marvelous job with your fall decorating. Some years, we would bring out the Christmas decor on Thanksgiving night. I say do what makes you happy and please be sure to share with us. Have a great day.

  4. Well, we don't have Thanksgiving in England, so decorations usually go up in our house in about the second week of December. Lots of people start early and the shops have been decorated since the beginning of November!

    1. Our stores (shops) have had Christmas out for several months. One of our retailers started putting Christmas merchandise out in August. Now that's just toooooooo early!

  5. I am having the same thoughts,Mary. Since my girls are taking over Holidays at their homes now, and I am THANKFUL for that after 52 years of hosting it at my house. I keep telling myself, "you aren't having Thanksgiving here so why not go ahead and change out the decorations"... can't decide!! What's a girl to do. Hey and I am thankful for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so maybe combining some of both décor until next Friday, what you think?

    1. Same here Sylvia, my oldest daughter has taken over the holiday festivities and I gladly let her have it. It's so nice to just show up. Of course, we all contribute to the menu, but the bulk is all hers!! Putting up just a little Christmas sounds like a good plan to me....a little red mixed in with the orange should look very festive!

  6. Your kitchen bar looks beautiful and I agree that it can wait for just a few more days before Christmas appears! Anticipation makes getting there more fun!

  7. Wow! Your fall decorations are gorgeous. I just don't decorate like I used to for fall. I'm ready to put up our tree, hopefully Monday. We aren't here for Thanksgiving and I want to enjoy our tree as long as I can! Show your Christmas decorations when you finish!

  9. {{{Giggling}}}--my husband said yesterday, "Linda, since it is going to snow (and it is!!) how about starting to decorate?" WELL I NEVER!! EVERY!! PUT OUT CHRISTMAS BEFORE THANKSGIVING!! But, he did convince me to start...and I even went out yesterday and bought fabric to change out the kitchen fall curtains, smiles.

    Have a beautiful day friend...and my son said, "You have really confused me, Mama, you always said no Christmas before Thanksgiving." {{giggling}}

  10. Each holiday has it's own happiness and special things but in the end we are thankful for it all and all the holidays point to our wonderful God anyway.
    Happy Thanksgiving.
