Before I got on the exercise bike last night I put an Alan Jackson CD on to play. Yes, I sing along, and yes, it's not pretty!! lol...anyway, I love this old church hymn. As I sang along I was thinking, there's some wisdom here!
Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let his praises ring;
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
Through eternal ages let his praises ring;
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I'm standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit's call,
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.
Listening every moment to the Spirit's call,
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.
There is so much wisdom in that last verse.
Stand with Him
Listen to Him
Rest in Him
Until Next Time
I love the words to the hymns. So much wisdom in them and I love to hear Alan Jackson sing them. I have a hymn cd of is his too.
ReplyDeleteRest in Him.. such a pretty picture. 💜
ReplyDeleteThe church I grew up in sang out of that old Burgundy Church Hymnal...precious memories.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious post, my friend, and oh, I just LOVE the photo.

I love that hymn. Another hymn that reminds me of when I was first saved. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteI always loved that hymn and enjoy listening to Alan Jackson too. I always sing along and hope no one hears me either.. LOL!! Have a day of blessings dear Mary.
ReplyDeleteGood song. I love Alan Jackson.
ReplyDeleteI love the old hymns, the ones I played as pianist at church when I was a younger. I also love to read the stories behind how the hymns came to be written.
ReplyDeleteI have several Alan Jackson cd's. Love his voice.
Wishing you a blessed Mother's Day.
I LOVE that old hymn. And I hope that you were standing while singing! You cannot sing "Standing on the Promises" while "sitting on the premises"....How many song leaders and/or preachers have used that line to get us standing to sing this song? But most importantly...standing on God's Promises is a very wonderful place to stand...secure in His love and saving grace...no better place to be!!
ReplyDeleteI love that one too and think I must have the same Alan Jackson CD. I also sing along and it isn't pretty either! LOL HIS promises are such a blessing!!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I have that exact Alan Jackson CD of wonderful old hymns!!
ReplyDeleteAh...so true. So beautiful!
