Monday Morning Coffee Chat

It's Monday again.
I'm alive.
I'm blessed.
The coffee is hot.
And life is good!

We had a great day yesterday.  We finally felt well enough to go out to eat and go sit with sweet MIL for a while.  When we walked into the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised to see some good friends already there.  They invited us to join them and we all had a great visit and great food.

From there we went to the hospital and spent the rest of the afternoon visiting with sweet MIL.  At five the aid got her up and in the wheelchair and we rolled her down to the dining room for supper.  She needs so much help to eat and I was blessed to be able to help her with her meal.  She still has her wonderful sense of humor for us all to enjoy and gave us a few good laughs. It doesn't take much to tire her, so as soon as she finished eating (which wasn't very much) it was right back to her room and into bed.

Driving home, we finished the day with an ice cream cone from Dairy Queen.  I really wanted a banana split (they're on special for $1.99) but Mr D reminded me we're on a diet. lol  So, I guess an ice cream cone is okay???

I found this in A Touch of Joy by Helen Steiner Rice and thought it would be something nice to add to my post today.  I hope you enjoy it.

In My Family

John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

Ah...family.  What greater blessing do we have here on earth than the sweet voices and familiar faces of those we love?  They are our companions on the journey of life, adding to our joy.  We are also part of God's family ~ one of a vast number of sisters and brothers in the Lord; loving laughing encouraging and supporting one another.  Our hearts are filled with gratefulness and praise to our God for His goodness.

I was so blessed to share love and laughter with friends and family!

  1. Hi Mary, So thankful that you and your husband are better. How very nice that you ran into friends at the restaurant and enjoy one another's company. How precious to spend time with you dear MIL and to help with feeding her supper. Thank you for sharing the beautiful words from HSR. I am thankful for all my blog friends, sisters in Christ, as well as family and friends who live closeby. God bless you and yours. xoxo

  2. Sounds like a perfect day! Thank you for sharing it with us. So glad you were able to get out and enjoy some time with friends and also with your sweet MIL. ..And then to have an ice cream cone on top of it all is like the icing on the cake! Love Helen Steiner Rice...we claim her as a relative, but haven't really been able to trace the connection. Happy Monday. You have made me smile!

  3. So glad you are out and about. And believe it or not, the small Dairy Queen cones are not too bad for the diet as it is ice milk and not ice cream. I found that out in a diet class I attended once. Of course you have to limit how many you eat in one day.:) Blessings on your sweet MIL...growing old is not for sissies as Ark Linkletter used to say.

  5. I'm with Terri. Bananas are good for you and ice milk has lots of Calcium.
( It has been SO long since I had a banana split. I think I may have to break down and have one. I wonder if they're on sale out here!!
