Monday Morning Coffee Chat

We had a wonderful time celebrating Mr. D's birthday Saturday afternoon.  The family gathered at our oldest daughter's home for hamburgers and swimming.  Mr. D and I didn't get in to the pool but the young adults did...and Emma and Ava!!

I love family gatherings, I think I have mentioned that before.  😊

In the news. . .
It's been rumored that the State of Texas is saying it's okay to have chickens inside the city limits, you just can't have a rooster.  I don't know if the news has reached my town's city council yet!!  I hope this is true, I would love to have a couple of chickens to enjoy, they are so peaceful to watch.

Family News. . .
Sweet MIL is not settling in to her new home as well as we had hoped.  There are issues and we are at a loss as to what to do next.  We are just praying that she will settle down and make the adjustment to her new environment.  I know it is so hard for her.
😢

"The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace."
-Psalm 29:11

Around Town. . .
My town is celebrating 125 years, 1892 - 2017.
On May 9th, 1907 La Porte High School graduates its first class of 3 graduates.  Many years later Mr. D and I were La Porte High School graduates!!

Today's Quote. . .
In relationship to God, it is not enough to go on what feels right or what we sincerely believe is true. To have eternal life, we must relate to God on His terms, not ours. He is, after all, God. So, the test of any faith's validity is whether it conforms to his standard.
Franklin Graham

Did you know. . .

Abraham got remarried after Sarah died, to Keturah.
He had 6 children with her (
Gen 25:1-2).

A little humor. . .
A Woman went to the Post Office to buy stamps for her Christmas cards.  "What Denomination?" Asked the clerk.  "Oh, my goodness! Have we come to this?" said the woman.
"Well give me 50 Baptist and 50 Catholic!"

  6. Abraham...wow... When he and Sarah were trying for a baby he said he was too old for it and she was barren. Then, years later, they had Isaac. (Ishmael was born to Hagar before that.) THEN, years after that, he married Keturah who was young enough to have six kids and he fathered them. Abraham...holy moly. Just saying!

  8. Prayers for you Mother in law. It must be so hard.
Happy Birthday to Mr. D! Sounds like a wonderful day for you all.
Judaism teaches that Keturah, which means perfume, is really Hagar(which means flight). She was returned to Avraham by Ishmael and her name was changed as she was also a changed person.

  11. I'd like to have a few hens too but it's not legal so we don't. Roosters can be noisy but why anyone would object to a few hens is beyond me.

What a nice celebration you had for Mr. D. Nothing like getting the family together.
