Is There a Heaven ~ Part 2

Make no mistake about it!  Heaven is a home populated by the Lord and his loved ones who have made the deliberate choice to be there.

Continuing a study by David Jeremiah...

Heaven is Real

Heaven is not only an idea, a metaphor, a figurative concept, or a state of mind.  Heaven is very real.  The Bible says multiple times that heaven is a real place.  Jesus said, "I go to prepare a place for you."  In the original Greek translation, the word topos was used for place, which refers to a physical location.  While Jesus was on the cross, the thief next to Him asked Jesus to remember him when He entered His kingdom.  Jesus replied by saying, "Today you will be with me in Paradise."  Heaven is a real place where we will go one day when we place our hope and trust in Christ.

Heaven is Paradise

You may be familiar with the concept of heaven, but what exactly is it?  If you've heard the Lord's Prayer, you may know that it begins with "Our Father in heaven...."  Put simply, heaven is where God lives.  Of course, God is everywhere, but heaven is His kingdom, where He rules and reigns.  People will come from every corner of the earth to live in heaven . . . the place where believers will one day reside with their Savior!  Jesus once called it "Paradise."  The Bible has plenty of descriptions about heaven.  It is a place with pearl gates and streets made of gold!  The Bible illustrates it as being a place of unity where animals live together in peace side by side.  Heaven will be a place without sorrow or pain and it will be filled with joyous music and song.

Revelation 2:7
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”’

The following is taken from My Journey to Heaven by
Marvin J. Besteman:

I saw color-bursts that lit up the sky, way beyond the northern lights I had seen once on a trip to Alaska.  Simply glorious.

My geezer body felt young and strong and fantastic.  The aches and pains and limitations of age were just gone.  I felt like a teenager again, only better.

The music I heard was incomparable to anything I had ever heard before.  There was a choir of a million people, thousands of organs, thousands of pianos.  It was the most lush and beautiful music I had ever heard.

Colossians 1:5-6
the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel that has come to you. In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God’s grace.

  4. I cannot even begin to imagine the worship time through song and praise in heaven. I got a feeling the heavenly choir will be like nothing we've ever heard. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
