Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, but the realization of how much you already have.
Philippians 4:11-13

What a wonderful word for today...Contentment...I am still learning to be content with what I have...there are so many "things" out there that entice me and cause me to lose my sense of contentment for a moment or two or three...but when I look at what I really have in Christ, and what a wonderful family and home we have, I know I am blessed beyond measure, and therefore am content.
ReplyDeletePamela, I too feel those enticements for a second or two...thankfully the Holy Spirit reminds me of all God has provided and I feel the contentment that only God can give!!

I told several ladies recently that just as some mornings we may have to wake up and say, "Lord, today I chose Joy" we often must also say, "Lord,I am content because I have You". I read something recently that said, "Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not. But, remember, what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for". ReplyDeleteMy lack of contentment recently hasn't been for anything material....I'm having to learn to be content with Him and allow Him to be enough.
ReplyDeleteBeing content is one of the hardest things I think because we always think we need something to make us happy. I think it is because we live in the physical and the spiritual is a little blurry for us from time to time.
