Is There a Heaven ~ Part 4

Like a child who suddenly stops sobbing when he is clasped in the arms of is mother, such will be the grip of heaven upon our souls.
Ravi Zacharias

Continuing a study by David Jeremiah . . .

How To Get to Heaven

As previously mentioned, we cannot get to heaven by any good works that we may do.  We are all sinners and our entrance to heaven is solely through God's grace, not through any act of our own.  The only way to get to heaven is through Jesus.  He was the sacrifice so that all could enter heaven.  To go to heaven, you must belong to Christ.  To do this, you must fully submit yourself to Him.  The Bible says that if you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him form the dead, you will be saved.  You must be born again . . . not physically, but spiritually . . . fully dedicate your heart to the Lord.  Realize that you are a sinner, and ask Jesus to forgive you, to enter your life, and to lead you on the path He has purposed for you.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Based on your choices you have made, if you were to die today, would you be inside or outside of Heaven's gate?

From a sermon by J. Yeargin
Assembly of God Pastor
New Life Church, Shelbyville, Tennessee

God is still on the Throne. Jesus is seated at His right hand, ever interceding on our behalf.
Jesus will soon return to earth to declare His righteousness and take us to our new home in heaven.

What a wonderful place that will be for His people?

Did you know that God that is moving and doing things right now to prepare His Kingdom for you and I?

We may tire and grow weary with all of the responsibilities of this life, but God never stops preparing His Kingdom for His people.

Four facts are clear from God’s word.

1. There is a future life.

2. There is no intermediate place. – no purgatory – no soul sleep

3. The eternal destiny of the soul is determined this side of the Grave. There is no second chance after death.

4. The only source of information we have about Heaven is the Bible.

What does the Bible have to say about Heaven.

I. Heaven Is A Place

John 14:1-2
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

1. Heaven is a real place – a location.

2. Where is Heaven
Heaven is up – which place is up

Psalm 48:1-3
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. [2] Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. [3] God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

Isaiah 14:13-14
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: [14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

II. Heaven Is A Prepared Place

1. No one will be in Heaven by surprise.

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

2. It is a place of preparation.

Luke 13:3
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

III. Heaven Is A Place Of Holiness

It is holy because of what is barred from it. – no sin – no sickness – no sorrow – no pain – no death – no darkness – no wickedness – no person who has rejected Christ as Savior.

IV. Heaven Is A Place Of Rest

1. The burdens of life are lifted.
2. Earthly cares are left behind.

V. Heaven Will Be A Busy Place

We may study:
Law under Moses
Music under David
Prophecy under Isaiah
Philosophy under John
Theology under Paul

VI. Heaven Is At The End Of The Christian Life

2 Tim. 4:6-8
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. [7] I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: [8] Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

VII. Heaven Is A Place Of Reward.

It is a reward for those who say “Yes” to Jesus.

John 14:6Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

  4. "There is no intermediate place. – no purgatory – no soul sleep" When my Daddy passed away, a man....I'm hoping he had good intentions....tried to tell me that Daddy was in a "holding place". I was grieving and this hurt my heart because I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that my precious Daddy was/is in heaven. Thank you, sweet Friend, for these posts about the place where each of us Christians long to be...especially, in light of the things happening in America. Come soon, Lord Jesus....soon. :'(
