Hello Saturday

WoW, the flu is rampant in my part of the world.  Houston has had seven flu related deaths, the scary thing is, a few of them were young healthy individuals.  It's well known that the flu is very dangerous for the elderly and babies, but it's not common for relatively young healthy people to loose their life with this illness.

Mr D and I have decided to stay home as much as possible for a while. I know we can't hide in a closet, life must go on, but being cautious at our age is a good thing.

Everything went well with my cataract removal, now it's 3 weeks of drops and it's all over!  My eye glasses no longer work for me. . . but I still need help with reading.  The doctor said it will be at least 2 weeks before she will prescribe new glasses because that time is needed for my eye to completely heal.

So I went to Walgreens and purchased some 'cheaters' to get me through.

  1. I'm so glad your surgery is finished! I had been wondering about you.
The farmer has had the flu, I guess; anyway he's still coughing and went through a few days of dizziness. I had a touch of tummy trouble but no coughing or sore throat. He took the flu shot but I didn't; maybe that's the reason his wasn't as bad as I always thought the flu to be. Staying in seems like a good idea!

  2. Hello Mary, I am so happy to hear that your cataract surgery went well. My husband has had it done twice now, on both eyes and his vision is 20/20 except for reading. When I hear things like that about the flu it is very scary in deed. Our daughter is an RN in a huge hospital and I worry about all the things that she comes in contact with in her daily work. She is so careful because she also worries about bring things home to her family. All we can do is cast those worries to the Lord and trust in Him to keep us save, that and have the common sense to take careful measures ourselves. It is good that you and your husband are staying in and being careful.
I am celebrating 6 years of blogging, please come visit and put you name in the hat for my Give-A-Way.
    Keep smiling and God bless,
    Connie :)

  3. We are having flu issues here too. I haven't gotten a flu shot this year and I probably should. I remember when Mom had cataract surgery. It did seem like forever with those drops and, of course, I put them in for her. I hope your "cheaters" work well for you until you get your new prescription ones.

  5. So happy your eye surgery went well. Praise God! I do hope you won't get the flu. Some of our dear friends both have it right now. I'm praying we don't get it. They both had the flu shot, but have a very bad case of flu. Others I have heard got the shot and also got the flu. I didn't get the shot, and am praying I won't get the flu. I am having a colonoscopy Monday, no fun, but don't dare get sick before that! Have a good week...rest up and let your eye heal. Don't forget the drops!!

  6. I'm so happy your cataract surgery went well. That encourages me although mine isn't scheduled until next summer. That's how busy the surgeon is. I'll remember about the drugstore glasses when I get to that point.
I hope you avoid getting the flu. It sounds nasty.

  7. I'm so happy you are done with the drops and your eye has healed. Joe uses 'cheaters' from Walgreens too. He had his eyes done quite a few years ago now. Staying in is probably wise. I've been using had sanitizer like crazy when we are out and about. We can't be too careful! Take care dear friend!

  10. I am so happy your eye surgery went well and praying a fast healing. God is the great physician! Take care and be well. I am feeling like you, stay inside and away from crowds. It isn't easy, this week my hubby has a doctor appointment and my daughter is having surgery, so I will be around people and taking my daughter to the hospital for her surgery. Prayers please!
