A Summer Song
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak.
Saturday 9: A Summer Song (1964)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it HERE!
I love this song!
1) Are you enjoying winter? Or do you daydream about summer?
I love the winter months, our winters are usually mild, but not this year. We have snow!
2) In this week's song, trees sway in the breeze. Is it windy where you are today?
Always windy here on the Texas Coast. Breezes from the bay blow through all the time.
3) There's rain outside their window. Have you more recently seen rain or snow?
We enjoyed 6 inches of snow this week. Now it's gone and rain is in the forecast for next week.
4) This week's artists are the duo Chad and Jeremy. As a teen, Chad Stuart was very versatile in the arts. While he enjoyed drawing, he showed real promise in music and won a scholarship to London's Central School of Speech and Drama. When you were a teenager, what were your best classes?
I did well in most subjects, lucky me. Math and English were my best.
5) Between 1965 and 1966, Chad and Jeremy played British pop stars on a variety of American TV shows, including The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Patty Duke Show, and Batman. Which of those series do you remember?
I remember them all and still watch Dick Van Dyke when I can.
6) While those TV appearances were good for the duo's record sales, they sowed the seeds of dissent between the friends. Jeremy Clyde realized he enjoyed acting far more than music and began threatening to leave the act. Chad finally got tired of dissuading him. Between Jeremy's dramatic aspirations and contract disputes, they broke up. Later they both admitted they regretted the split, but as Chad said, "we were just kids." Is there an old friend you've drifted away from but miss?
Unfortunately, yes. One of my dearest old friends passed away last year. I've lost complete contact with one, and the third dear friend lives close and we make contact sometimes. Our lives just went in different directions. With that said, I have many dear friends that I see or have contact with regularly♥
Met this dear lady when I was 7 years old, she was 14 and eventually became my Sister-in-Love. She loved the Lord and now resides with Him in heaven. She was a dear friend, her name was Janelle but I called her Nell♥
7) In 1964, when "A Summer Song" was popular, the #1 movie in the country was Mary Poppins. Have you seen it?
More than once!
8) One of the biggest news stories of 1964 was Elizabeth Taylor's wedding to Richard Burton. The bride wore yellow, with yellow and white flowers in her hair. The groom wore a dark suit, red tie and yellow boutonniere. What did you wear last time you got dressed up?
Dress slacks, a nice blouse and a blazer.
9) Random question: When you're in the backseat, do you wear a seatbelt?
I do.

Lots of fun questions here today. Here we go!
ReplyDelete1. I don't mind winter except when we're way down in the deep freeze lake teh past few weeks. -30F is just too coldl for me these days.
2.We're supposed to have north winds of 25 to 30 mph which will just make it even colder today.
3.Freezing rain before Christmas. That was nasty.
4.I loved history and social studies best.
5.I remember watching Dick Van Dyke although I've heard of all of them. I was born in 1960 so not very old at those times.
6. Yes, my best friend Jody who moved from Iowa to Oregon do to her Dad's death, the year we were in 5th grade. It was devastating for us both.
7. Mary Poppins is my Hubby's favorite movie so we've seen it multiple times.
8. I never get dressed up anymore and I really don't remember the last time.
9. Yes I do, but they aren't as comfortable as the ones in the front.
Blessings,
Betsy
It was fun reading your answers!! Hope you have a happy day☺♥
DeleteI enjoyed reading your answers and you have more snow in your church yard that we do in our backyard here in eastern New YOrk!!
ReplyDeleteYes, but I think your snow will stay on the ground longer than the snow here! Our snow is already gone!!
DeleteIs it usual to have snow like that?
ReplyDeleteWe live on the Texas coast and it's very rare for us to have snow. Thanks for visiting, home you have a great day.
DeleteI love all your answers 💗💗💗💗💗💗
ReplyDelete☺♥
DeleteI enjoyed reading your answers, though I don't claim to enjoy the winter and snow. It's not unusual for us to have bad winters here in the mountains of sw Pennsylvania. I didn't mind them when I was younger, but I can imagine myself becoming a snowbird with little imagination these days.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the few days of snow we just had, still I'm glad it doesn't come often!
DeleteNo snow here, but it came close! It actually was predicted here, but it didn't show up. However, it's been plenty cold enough! I remember Chad & Jeremy and all those shows, etc. I guess I'm old. LOL. That was my teen age years. I do keep in touch with a few of my old school friends through Facebook mostly. And other friends I've made through the years are still friends on FB too, but the older I get, the more of my friends are preceding me to heaven. It's going to be a busy place when I get there someday! Lots of hugs to go around. Have a blessed weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a day that will be!! ☺♥
DeleteStay warm with all that snow!
ReplyDeleteI didn't leave the house, enjoyed the snow from my windows!!
DeleteI think we are all pretty much in the same page about seatbelts
ReplyDeleteSeems that way!
DeleteI enjoyed reading your answers and I love your new colorful background!! The old TV shows are still the best, I think. I've been watching Ozzie & Harriet lately. So fun!! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love the old shows and watch them as often as I can. They are still entertaining to me. Happy weekend back to ya. ♥
DeleteI think my comment must have gone to spam.... but like Kilroy, I was here!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think blogland has an impish little ghost that loves to cause us all a little trouble. That stinker!
DeleteI remember all those shows and watched them.
ReplyDeleteI like all the seasons and glad I live where I get the all. :)
I have a good friend who I've known all my life. Our moms were friends.
☺♥
DeleteHi Mary, I wish we would get some snow once in a while. It looks so pretty. Glad you were warm and cozy through it all. Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday Susan! ☺♥
DeleteI enjoy snow, too. Glad to see I'm not the only one. I live in Chicago and I've noticed that everyone is nicer when it's cold while hot weather can make people grumpy!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the hot weather, and it does make me grumpy lol.
DeleteY'all can keep that snow, Mary, lol. Wishing you a beautiful day. smiles
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty while it lasted, it's all gone now! Have a great week ahead☺♥
