Monday Coffee Talk

Monday Once Again

Well, here we are—Monday once again. Things sure are different since I retired. No rush, no alarm clock, no workweek ahead, just another day in the good Lord’s grace. I used to dread Mondays, but now they feel more like a gentle beginning than a jolt. Coffee tastes just as good, the sun still shines, and hopefully there’s a breeze on the porch.

All’s peaceful here at our little bayside bungalow. The flowers are growing, the birds are singing, and the world feels just slow enough to savor.

We’re on the downside of July now, and August will be here before we know it. Then come the "ber" months—September, October, November and December. Even though September will still be hot, we have the promise of fall on its way. I am so ready.

Retirement has a way of softening the edges of the calendar. Monday isn’t a mountain to climb anymore—it’s a quiet invitation to reflect, to putter, and to enjoy what the day brings. Whether it’s a phone call from one of the kids, a favorite hymn playing in the background, or simply the joy of a fresh start, I’m grateful.

So here’s to Mondays—not a burden, but a blessing. Another gift. Another chance.

Living day by day as the Lord Provides.

Until Next Time

  2. Good Monday Morning to you! I am sitting here sipping my cup of tea and enjoying reading your post and the lovely picture on your porch. It's already almost 80 degrees here at 7:00 a.m., and will be another hot day. Hopefully we will get some rain to cool it off a tad. Yes, Monday's are a lot nicer now that we're retired. I am thankful to be retired, that's for certain! Have a lovely week!! Stay cool!!

  3. Hello dear Mary! Your first illustration with the coffee made me laugh! :) Your photo is beautiful! I have never hated Mondays, thank God. Even when I was working; I am retired now, at 68. I guess a good reason for this is because I always enjoyed my jobs, and they were varied over the years. Receptionist, typist, maintenance (cleaning empty apartments for a property management firm), retail sales clerk, retail store manager.
Today the weather here in Montreal was absolutely fantastic! About in the upper 60's to low 70's, partly sunny, partly cloudy and breezy. I took a 2 to 3 hour walk! I took many photos and I will share these in my upcoming blog posts.
God bless you, have a wonderful filled week!

  5. Indeed, retirement is a gift. "Softening the edges" ... I like that!
It may be late afternoon, but I'm going to pour myself a cup of cold brew coffee right now.

  6. Happy Monday to you! Although it's 5:00 pm here, it's still Monday. I love them too since I retired. So much nicer to get up when I feel like it in the morning instead of with the alarm at. 5:00 am.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
