We went out for lunch on Friday and treated ourselves to some delicious seafood, followed by a relaxing drive before heading home. The outing was lovely—I especially enjoyed the overcast skies, which helped keep the heat at bay.
Everything was going well until we got home and discovered my oxynator had stopped working. That’s always frightening. I called for service right away, and it was after 8 p.m. when the technician arrived. Thankfully, I had my portable unit to rely on in the meantime. By 9, all was well again—a brand-new machine was up and running, and it’s noticeably quieter than the one I had before.
To top off the weekend, Bo and Tammy stopped by with little Adalyn. She is absolutely adorable, and I had such a wonderful time with her. What a gift that visit was.
A great personality for such a little one.
I had promised myself no Amazon for a while—but life had other plans. The night light over the garage, which lights up the front of the house, went out. And not just the bulb—the entire fixture quit working. So, Mr. D asked me to order another one just like it… and just like that, hello Amazon! It was delivered the very next day, and Rusty had it installed by late afternoon. Problem solved!
Saturday morning once again found me on the porch, quietly swinging while the coffee brewed—have I mentioned how much I adore porch-sitting?☺☺☺ There’s something comforting about the rhythm of that swing and the gentle anticipation of a great day.
As I rocked along, a tiny lizard peeked his head over the fence, and I know he was looking right at me! He bobbled his head thoughtfully, clearly assessing the scene. Then, with surprising agility, he leapt over the fence and landed gracefully on the top runner board. After pausing just a moment, he scurried about a foot forward, stopped, and resumed his curious head-bobble.
He was clearly on a mission—or maybe just enjoying a little Saturday exploration.
Next, he darted down the support post, paused again for one last head wiggle, and dove straight into the hibiscus bush, disappearing into its leafy green embrace.
It was such a simple moment, yet I found myself absolutely delighted to be his audience. Of course, I didn’t have my phone or camera handy, so no pictures to share.
Gentle Reflection: Sometimes, the quiet visitor—the bobbling lizard, the rustle in the hibiscus, or the first whisper of morning breeze—feels like a divine nudge, reminding us to pause and notice. There’s grace in these small encounters, and joy waiting in the ordinary.
Even when we're not seeking, God's creation speaks—inviting us to lean into stillness, to let our hearts swing a little slower, and to be fully present in the unfolding wonder around us.
"Be still, and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10
This beautiful double peach hibiscus is from several years ago.
Have a Marvelous Monday everybody!
Blessings to All
Until Next Time

Beautiful photos, ❤️ Mary. Your seafood meal sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteMary, I found myself relaxing and smiling as I read your blog for today. Thank you! Marta
ReplyDeleteAdalyn is very lovely, smiles. I hear you on/about Amazon, lol. Wishing you a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine you sitting happily on your porch!
ReplyDeleteYou took us right to that spot with you Mary :) And good try on the Amazon reluctancy :) They make it too easy. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteOh, how delightful! Those little lizards can be quite entertaining! I love to watch God's Creation in action (or inaction, watching our kitties sleep on the porch is so peaceful) Glad you were able to get out for a nice seafood lunch and then a nice ride. Not so nice that your oxygen equipment wasn't working when you got home. So thankful they were quick to respond! I assume they must be available 24/7 for something that important. Oh, isn't Amazon great for so many things? And isn't it nice to have a son close by to take care of those things for you? What a blessing! And that Adalynn is a charmer for sure. She is adorable! What a wonderful visit you had. Thank you for sharing all the joys with us. This made my heart smile!
ReplyDeleteBe still, and know!! Yes!! I love your encounter with the lizard. They are sure fun to watch and do seem to be aware of us!
ReplyDeleteHow scary to have your oxynator quit like that. I'm glad that could be replaced before too long.
ReplyDeleteThat little lizard must have been so cute!!
What a beauty, your Adalyn! I'm glad those techs were able to replace your oxygen machine in a reasonable timeframe. Tom doesn't require his so very often, but there's always a possibility ... scary!
ReplyDeleteI love watching the wee lizards. Your words made his visit come alive!
Glad you were able to get your oxygen machine replaced without incident.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to be entertained by the little lizard. Simple pleasures.
There are those times with Amazon and I see way too much of each other! A few months back Amazon opened up a distribution center near me so I get things directly to my door and quickly! That doesn't help the addiction! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to get your oxygenator fixed but especially that you had a portable unit as a back up. That's got to be scary!
Aww sweet picture of Adalyn.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
