Family News:
Mr D. celebrated his 83rd birthday on the 10th! The girls and hubbies came bringing food and a dessert♥ A big pot of red beans, chicken tamales, slaw and cornbread, cookies and brownies for dessert. It's always fun when the kids come.
We had a quiet Father's Day, since we were all together for his birthday the girls just called to wish him a good day. It was dreary and rainy here so we stayed in and watched television most of the day.
I've been working on a new diamond art picture and also looking for a new book to read. Nothing seems to catch my interest since I closed the last page of Appalachian Song. I guess that story is still too fresh in my mind. You can read my book review by clicking HERE.
Two of my GLOW sisters have taken a fall this past week. One broke her hip, the break was such they had to do a complete replacement. I've been told that's an easier and faster recovery than the type of break I had. She fell while at the hospital with her hubby who was there for a stress test, I guess if you're going to take a fall the hospital is the best place. A few days after her fall, another GLOWer fell, at the same hospital, and broke her nose and has severe bone bruising. She was able to go home to recover. Please remember Zephra and Linda in your prayers.
FYI:
A bone bruise, also known as a bone contusion, occurs when an injury or force impacts the bone, causing fluid or blood to build up in the bone marrow. This can result from a direct hit during a fall, accident, or sports activity. Symptoms may include pain, swelling, and difficulty moving the affected area. Bone bruises are more serious than skin bruises and can take longer to heal, potentially leading to fractures if not properly managed. Treatment often involves rest, ice, compression, and elevation"
For On This Day in History I wanted to find a specific biblical event that is tied to June 16, needless to say that's just about impossible, however, I did find that in the Hebrew month of Sivan, June 16 often falls near biblical moments such as David's passing and Shavuot. Shavuot is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. It occurs 50 days after Passover, typically in late May or early June.
Psalm 122:6
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you.
We are called to pray for the peace and well-being of Jerusalem, the spiritual heart of God's people. It blesses those who love and seek her good, promising prosperity and peace in return. It's not just about a city, but about praying for God’s people and His purposes. Seeking Jerusalem’s peace is aligning our hearts with God’s plan and showing love for His dwelling place and His people.
Blessings to All
Until Next Time
Thank you for the review of Appalachian Song. I have just finished reading it and found that it was really beautiful. I might look for others written by the same author.

DeleteHappy Birthday to Mr. D! Sounds like he had a wonderful birthday with the family there and lots of good food! Great way to celebrate! I looked for that book at our library, but they don't have it. So I may have to look elsewhere. It sounds like a good one! Yes, we are praying for the peace and protection of Israel. May God intervene on their behalf and may He cover His children with His feathers and keep them safe. We know that God is working on their behalf, but we just hate to see so much warfare going on. Continued prayers. I am sorry for your friends who both fell and injured themselves at the hospital, of all places! Yes, it's probably good to fall there if you have to fall, but it seems strange that both of them fell there! Praying for their comfort and recovery. Take care my friend, and have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteI think it's strange too! What are the odds???? WoW. Hope you have a wonderful week too. ☺♥
DeleteHappy Birthday to Mr. D. It sounds like a great birthday. We are also praying for Israel daily. We have been since October 7th. They are God’s people and the end times prophecies revolve around what is happening there. Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King! Hallelujah! May it be so.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy

DeleteBelated birthday wishes for Mr. D.
ReplyDeleteI checked if our library has Appalachian Song and they do so I requested it. So often they don't have a book that I want so I was pleasantly surprised this time. Thank you for recommending it.

DeleteBelated "Happy New Year" to Mr. D! Your 'get together" sounds exactly the kind Tom and I both prefer, surrounded by soft words and laughter with loved ones. (Tom just turned 83 in February.)
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean about that "after glow" when finishing a good book. 3 days after the fact, I'm right there!
