The Gift He Keeps on Giving

I have many devotionals on my bookshelf and refer to them often.  They are a wonderful source for daily living and are all special to me. One of my favorites is,
The Women of Faith Daily Devotional.
My post for today is from this book.  A devotional written for December 25th by the late Barbara Johnson.  She was a beautiful woman of faith,  even in tragedy and bad health, she was a beacon to those around her.  What a wonderful legacy.

For many women, Christmas is one of the most joyful, hectic, exciting, rewarding, exhausting days of the year.  For others, it is a day ringed with sadness as we think of loved ones who aren't there to share the festivities.  Still, so often we feel their presence.

Nell Mohney wrote about how the doorbell rang on Christmas Eve, and she opened the door to find an unknown woman holding a hand-painted wooden purse she had admired in a gift shop several weeks earlier.  "This is a present from your son," the woman said.  "He ordered it a month before his accident."  Nell's son had been killed the week before Thanksgiving.  She opened the purse to find a note: "Merry Christmas, Mother, from Rick."

Jesus' gift to us is similar.  It was planned for us long before but arrived unexpectedly on a Christmas night two thousand years ago.  It arrives again with each new day: this gift of love, peace, and hope ~ a purse filled with immeasurable goodness, unforgettable sacrifice.....and unending life.

Happy Birthday Jesus!
Amen

He came the first time as a baby...
When He comes again He will come as...
KING OF KINGS
AND LORD OF LORDS!

"And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.  I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.
Revelation 22:12-13

Until Next Time
Waiting for His return
..."Surely I am coming quickly....
Revelation 22:20
