Forgive Me When I Whine

A wonderful reminder that we have so much to be thankful for!

THE WORLD IS MINE
Author Unknown

Today, upon a bus, I saw a very beautiful woman and wished I were as beautiful.
When suddenly she rose to leave,
I saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had one leg and used a crutch.
But as she passed, she passed a smile.
Oh God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two legs; the world is mine.

I stopped to buy some candy.
The lad who sold it had such charm.
I talked with him, he seemed so glad.
If I were late, it would do no harm.
And as I left he said to me,
"I thank you, you've been so kind.
It's nice to talk with folks like you.
You see," he said, "I'm blind."
Oh God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two eyes; the world is mine.

Later while walking down the street,
I saw a child I knew.
He stood and watched the others play,
but he did not know what to do.
I stopped a moment and then I said,
"Why don't you join them dear?"
He looked ahead without a word.
I forgot, he could not hear.
Oh God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two ears; the world is mine.

With feet to take me where I'd go.
With eyes to see the sunset's glow.
With ears to hear what I'd know.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I've been blessed indeed
and the world is mine.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Give the gift of love. It never comes back empty!

Until Next Time
Always Thankful

  1. Oh, this is awesome....sometimes Pappy will ask "do you want some cheese with your WHINE"? LOL Thanks for the reminder to put the hand over my mouth and count my blessings!

  2. I have read this poem before and loved it. I do whine at times and have to stop at once and ask God's forgiveness for He has been so merciful to me and I am richly blessed. I have heard the one that goes "I complained for I have no shoes, then I went around the corner and met a man that had no feet"
Thanks for this reminder,Mary, have a blessed day!

  3. Oh Miss Mary, Love this! I've been whining here lately. Not really complaining but whining. This is twice this week that the Lord has convicted me of my whining! Thank you so much for sharing. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  9. Thank you for this wonderful poem...yes we've heard it before, and yes, we need to be reminded of our blessings. I was tempted to whine today (I did actually whine for a moment), and God reminded me that I was so blessed and I needed to lighten up...Actually, I had glimpsed your post earlier and it did come into my mind when I started whining...so, see? It's already working. Thank you.
