God Bless America

We've been in four major wars in my short time on this earth.  So many lives lost so I could be, and can be, free to enjoy life in this wonderful country, The United States of America.

My mother's first cousin was lost in WWII.  They were very close and he spent a week with Mother and Daddy before he shipped out, they never saw him again...and my Mother never forgot him.
Thank you Jack for giving your life to your country.

My little brother, one of the bravest men I've ever known, served three tours in Viet Nam and experienced unspeakable things...images that I'm sure still haunt him.
By God's grace he came home.
Thank you Wayne for your service.

There are really no words to properly thank the men and women of our military, their sacrifice is a precious gift to all of us.  God Bless them all.

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I worked for all my life
And I had to start again
With just my children and my wife

I thank my lucky stars
To be living here today
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can't take that away

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt
I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota
To the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas
From sea to shining sea

From Detroit down to Houston
And New York to L.A.
Where's pride in every American heart
And it's time we stand and say

That I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt
I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt
I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

Memorial Day is the day that's set aside to remember with gratitude and pride all those who served and died for our country and our freedom.

Thank you to the men and women of the United States Military.

Thank you to their families, who have sacrificed more than we can imagine.

Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service to our country can never be repaid.  They have earned our undying gratitude.  America will never forget their sacrifices.

Until Next Time
Freedom is not free.

  6. Wonderful post, Mary! That song always brings me to tears. The boy who gave me my first kiss was killed in Vietnam. We can never be thankful enough for those who have served our country.
