NATIONAL OREO COOKIE DAY – March 6

NATIONAL OREO COOKIE DAY

Be ready to observe by having your glass of milk handy as it is National Oreo Cookie Day.  This day is recognized across the nation each year on March 6th.
The Oreo sandwich cookie is made up of two chocolate disks containing a sweet cream filling and is loved by millions.  Since it’s introduction, the Oreo cookie has become the best-selling cookie in the United States.
The National Biscuit Company (today known as Nabisco) first developed and produced the “Oreo Biscuit” in 1912 at its Chelsea factory in New York City. Today, the block on which the factory was located is known as “Oreo Way”.
  • The name “Oreo” was first trademarked on March 14, 1912.
  • The first Oreo cookies in the United States sold for 25 cents a pound in clear glass topped novelty cans.
  • In 1912, the Oreo Biscuit was renamed to “Oreo Sandwich”.
  • In 1948, the Oreo Sandwich was renamed to “Oreo Creme Sandwich”.
  • William A. Turnier developed the modern-day Oreo design in 1952 to include the Nabisco logo.
  • Nabisco’s principal food scientist, Sam Porcello, developed the modern Oreo cookie filling.
HOW TO OBSERVE
Grab a glass of milk and a handful of Oreos to enjoy and use #NationalOreoCookieDay to post on social media.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1.  Are you able to pass by a plate of cookies and not take one or are you a bit of a 'Cookie Monster'?
I confess, I am The Cookie Monster!!
2.  Tell us about your favorite cookie. Have your tastes changed since you were a kid?
My taste has changed, there are many things I now eat that I wouldn't touch as a kid.  WoW, how can you pick a favorite cookie?  Let's just say, there is one cookie I don't like.  I know you'll have a hard time believing this but I don't like Oreo's.  I know, that's awful isn't it?
3.  Enquiring minds want to know if you are a dunker and, if so, do you dunk in milk, coffee, or tea?

I love Nutter Butter peanut butter cookies dunked in coffee! Oh so good!
4.  It is that time of year and they are selling them on every corner and in front of every store!  Do you buy Girl Scout cookies and if you do, which is your favorite?
I do buy Girl Scout cookies when I can. My favorites are thin mints, caramel delights, peanut butter patties and peanut butter sandwiches.

5.  Raw cookie dough.  Yay or Nay?
I've been known to sneak a bite of raw cookie dough, yummy.
6.  Please tell us something random about your week!!
I've been without my computer for over a week and I was lost.  I do stay on it too much but it's my connection to so many things that I enjoy.  I'm glad it has been discharged from the computer hospital and is home at last.

SPAGHETTI IS YUMMY !

I had a great lunch with my GLOW Group last Saturday, we ate at our local Italian Restaurant and their spaghetti was so good, I'm ready to go again.

Until Next Time

  3. I understand about your not liking oreos. I used to eat them a lot, but can't any more as I don't do chocolate very well. I do love peanut butter cookies and oatmeal raisin/nuts. Can't eat too many of any, but I love to bake them and eat them as they come out of the oven fresh and hot!! I've missed you here, so I am glad you are back. Hope you have a wonderful week and take care...God bless you.

  4. I do like Oreos and invariably will eat the middle first. My favorite cookie is either chocolate chip right out of the oven or Nabisco vanilla wafers. The only cookie I dunk are ginger snaps and I dunk them in tea.

  5. Oh, Nutter Butters are very good! I think I like them better than Oreos, too, but I almost never buy cookies. I enjoy baking them too much!

  6. I like the Spaghetti poem. Too bad my DH doesn't care for tomato sauce or we'd have spaghetti more often ( now he'll put Ketchup on his portion if I make it)
I don't care for Oreo cookies either and have never seen Nutter Butters in our grocery stores. Not that I spend much time in the cookie aisle. I mostly bake my own.

  9. The spaghetti poem at the end is so cute! I had to purchase some Oreos for something else I want to make...it only required one cookie. So what to do with the rest? Eat them, of course. But hubby and I have come to the conclusion that they have shrunk in size since we were kids and there is less sweet cream filling in them than before. I guess you could say we celebrated National Oreo Day...we just did it a few days early. :)
