Hooray for Hollywood
Welcome to Tuesday 4 in memory of Toni Taddeo it's first host and founder, now hosted by Annie!
How about the subject of Hollywood, it's 'stars', its products and it's affect on the world?
1. Which of the big movie stars of the past were your favorites? why?
I have so many . . . Jimmy Stewart, Henry Fonda, Bette Davis, Doris Day and my list could go on longer. Don't want to forget John Wayne and Tom Selleck, two of my special favorites.
2. Of the 'Blockbusters', which do you think is the all time greatest? Which was one you would see again?
Once again their are so many, how can I name just one. Gone With The Wind, To Kill a Mocking Bird, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Rear Window and many more.
3. Are you up on the latest Hollywood gossip? What interests you or alternatively why doesn't it interest you?
No, there is nothing about Hollywood that interest me.
4. Some movies, plays had a big impact on people. Orson Welles radio performance of War of the Worlds caused havoc including suicides and accidents. Is there a movie that you were greatly influenced or affected by?
Although there are many great 'old' movies, I don't think I was influenced by any of them. My parents kept us grounded between reality and make believe. If I watched a great movie, that's all it was, a great movie.

Until Next Time
Mary, you named a lot of my favorites - Henry Fonda, Jimmy Stewart, Doris Day. I would add John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and Audrey Hepburn.
ReplyDeleteThese days I have no interest in Hollywood and couldn't name but a handful of stars.
Enjoyed your answers Mary. You named some that I had forgotten. Jimmy Stewart is always a favorite.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your parent's philosophy about movies' influence! Would you believe, I've never seen To Kill a Mockingbird. I may have to put that on myt bucket list.
ReplyDeleteWe seem to like a lot of the very same films, but of course what was there not to like. Those were the old days for me when it comes to films..
ReplyDeleteTo Kill a Mocking Bird and The Wizard of Oz are fabulous movies and should have been on my list, too! We both said Gone With The Wind!! Another fun Tuesday meme!! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteMy father was in the army with Jimmy Stewart and was his driver!!
ReplyDeleteAll the movies you mentioned in number 2 are my favorites!!
We used to watch movies at my grams. She called them fairytales for grown ups. We never talked about the names of the actors... so a lot later I learned a few names. Sometimes we discussed the stories themselves. Enjoy your day!
