Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 kept in memory of her and hosted by Annie.
Let's talk about food this week shall we?
Most people enjoy eating good food after all.
1.What is/are your favorite foods to eat ?
I’ve always enjoyed a good homestyle meal, something hearty with a main course and vegetables. I’m not a picky eater and appreciate just about everything. But what I’d truly love is to sit at my mother’s table one more time. She was an incredible cook, always ready to prepare a meal for anyone who walked through the door. There was always room for one more at her table. I’d call her style good old-fashioned Southern home cooking—and it was absolutely delicious.
2.How often do you cook at home and what kind of meals do you make?
I’ve never quite measured up to the cook my mother was. I always preferred sitting at a desk working over spending time in the kitchen. But with a family to feed, I managed to get meals on the table and keep everyone fed. I wasn’t a bad cook—just not a passionate one. These days, I do very little cooking, and thankfully, Mr. D has stepped in and taken over. He does a fine job, and I’m happy to report we’re certainly not going hungry! 😊
3. When you go out to eat what foods do you find yourself ordering most?
When we eat out it's usually Mexican or seafood, we love both. Sometimes we just go for breakfast at our local Denney's or Waffle House.
4. Can you recommend a restaurant in your area? Why do you like it?
We have several great Mexican food restaurants, Gringo's - El Toro's - El Ranchero, we frequent them all. The best seafood is found along the boardwalk in Kemah, just a few minutes down the road. We like these places because the food is always good.

Until Next Time
You and I share a love of home cooking and a mother who could really cook. I too could never measure up but like you I learned to put decent food on the table, lol. You're blessed in that your husband now does the cooking for you. I don't think my husband is ready for that yet.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm anonymous again today. Thanks for visiting today.☺♥
DeleteI would love all of those places to eat out.
ReplyDeleteI would love to sit down at my Granie's table again for one of her meals. Maybe a friend chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy dinner. yum! Loved your answers! Have a great day!

Hope you've has a great day too☺♥
DeleteWould love to visit the Kemah boardwalk. I am not a passionate cook either but my youngest grand daughter who is a senior in high school is going half high and half technical school and in the chef program. She IS a passionate cook and a good one too.
ReplyDeleteShe got a job for August as an assistant to a great chef for 50 hours a week. He said by the end of August he and she will know whether she can make it as a chef. It is quite a big deal really. Have a lovely Tuesday Mary.
How exciting for your granddaughter, I hope she does grrrrreat. ☺♥
DeleteMy favorite food is Pizza. :). We make it at home almost every Friday.
ReplyDeleteMy mom was NOT a cook - she hated cooking. I learned how to cook from husband whose family owned an Italian restaurant. :) We rarely eat out, prefer our own cooking. We both cook and like Italian, Mexican, and also meat vegetables and potato meals.
☺♥
DeleteNice to read the questions and your answers.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan

DeleteLike my mother, I was never especially keen on cooking. Thank goodness, I married not one, but two, fellas who love(ed) creating wonderful meals. Yay for Mr. D!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite meal of the day is breakfast ... fortunately, it's also (normally) the most affordable! I usually keep a mental list of places I'd like to try, then when push comes to shove we re-visit those tried-and-true places. At today's prices, who wants to be disappointed!
Can't seem to get rid of 'anonymous' today. You're right, with today's prices we don't take chances!!!
DeleteI enjoy reading your answers 💗💗💗💗💗
ReplyDeleteThank you GM☺♥
ReplyDeleteI really liked getting to know you better with this post. I love to cook but my back doesn't allow me to stand for very long at a time. I'm doing some new treatments that I hope will change that soon.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Sorry to hear about your back, I have back problems also. Hope the new treatments work for you. ♥
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, I am like you. I learned to cook from mom, and she was a great cook. It is not my passion. I made lots of things for hubby and I that would last for days. Once we had kids, I cooked more for them. My hubby does most of the cooking now too!
