Thankful Thursday

A few of my 'thankfuls' for today.

It's always nice to have my morning coffee in a pretty new teacup.  My latest teacup gift from Tammy.  That girl is so good to her Momma!  Not only was the coffee good, but talking to the Lord was extra good.  Our Father Who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name❤.

Most of you know how much I love porchsitting.

Well, here I am,

on my swing,

on the porch,

 loving life!

Just a swangin' and thanking the Good Lord for such a good day.

Thankful list . . .

Oh, I almost forgot, I'm thankful for poems . . .

When the scale tells me I’ve not gained a pound

When my glasses or phone or keys have been found,

When the cop pulls me over but spares me the ticket

When my ice cream cone drips and I get to lick it,

When I read the obituaries and don’t know a soul,

When the car just ahead of me pays for my toll,

When my pants can fit without sucking my gut inπŸ˜€

When I’m on the dance floor and a man asks to cut in,

When it’s time for a movie and I get to choose it,

When I cut out the coupon and remember to use it.

Everyone understands the worth

Of a big celebration: a marriage, a birth

But moments of joy, too many to mention

Brighten each day, when we just pay attention.

Sunday afternoon was cold, a long stay at home day.

Fortunately, I have many things to keep me busy, one is scripture writing.  I started this late last year and I found I enjoy it very much.  I ordered a new notebook for the new year, let the writing begin!

I've enjoyed it so much I'm doing two this month.
Salvation and Grace.

Grace and Salvation, go hand in hand, without His grace and mercy there would be no salvation.

There's something so peaceful about writing scriptures,  I find myself talking to Him about what I'm writing, asking Him questions or just giving Him praise.  Yes, it's a wonderful way to spend time on a long afternoon.

Another thing I like to do on a cold afternoon is have my coffee from a teacup!

I love this cup, it's one the sisters brought back from their vacation.  They are so good about bringing me gifts from their travels.

The cup is so pretty I should have dressed up and wore a pretty hat!!

I enjoyed drinking from it in my flannel pj's.

Tea With Patsy

I enjoy Patsy Clairmont, she is so sweet and so funny!  Can't think of a better way to share Coffee in a Teacup than with Patsy!  Of course she drinks tea in her teacup, not coffee like me!

Her book, "Tea with Patsy Clairmont," is a sweet read.  Pictures of pretty teapots and teacups fill the pages along with great stories and scriptures.

Anne Graham Lotz

Drinking my coffee from a teacup this morning.
Makes me feel all prim and proper!  ))smiles))

I'm always looking for things to share with you and when I saw this from Anne Graham Lotz, I knew it was perfect for Coffee in a Teacup.

Maybe it will speak to you like it spoke to me.  Failure, I think we all have experienced it ~ but we don't need to. Praise God, through Him we can do all things!

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. -
Philippians 4:13, NKJV

I was once sitting in an audience when the speaker asked, “What do you think God expects of you?” I mentally ticked off a list of things I thought God expected of me: obedience, faithfulness, holiness, love, service. To my astonishment, the speaker went on to say, “All God ever expects of you is failure!” I wanted to raise my hand and say, “I can do that! I can live up to the expectations of God! I know I can fail!” But then the speaker added, “However, He has given you the Holy Spirit so that you need never fail.” Right! Without Christ I can do nothing, but in Him I can do all things!

The difference between
strength and weakness,
righteousness and wickedness,
success and failure,
is Jesus – the Holy Spirit – in me.

It's getting busy in my world this week,
taking a few days off from blogland.
I'm off  to the hill country to see the bluebonnets

I'll be back soon.

Coffee in a Teacup

Am I spiritually fit?

Are you spiritually fit?

As with physical fitness, spiritual fitness also requires exercise.

Give your Bible a workout!

Strengthen your stamina by communicating longer with God in prayer.

Don't let anything keep you from worshipping with others as you gain encouragement from other believers.

Discipline yourself.

Make an effort.

You'll reap the rewards.

When you seek God daily, walking with Him becomes easier.

There's room at the cross for you and for me!

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.
Psalm 32:8

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.

Letter From God

It's Tuesday, my special day to enjoy my Coffee in a Teacup.

(photo randomly chosen from the internet)

It's a beautiful morning and I'm loving my coffee in a teacup!  Pictures are from the internet today, I just let time get away from me and didn't get any pictures of my own.
Letter From God

Good morning,

As you got up I watched and hoped you would talkto me. Just a few words, such as thanking me for something good in your life yesterday or last week would do.

But I noticed you were busy selecting the right clothes for work. I waited again to hear from you. When you ran around the house collecting papers, I knew there would be a few minutes to stop and
say hello, but you never slowed down.

I wanted to tell you that I could help you accomplish more than you ever dreamed possible if you would just spend some of each day with me.  At one point, you waited fifteen minutes in a chair with nothing to do. I waited to hear from you.

Then I saw you spring to your feet; I thought you wanted to talk to me, but you ran to the phone and called a friend. I watched as off to work you went and waited patiently all day long to hear from you. With all your activities you were too busy to talk with me.

I noticed at lunch you looked around; maybe you just felt embarrassed to talk to me. You glanced three tables over and noticed some of your friends talking to me before they ate, but you wouldn't.

There was still more time left, and I hoped that we would talk. You went home and had many things to do.  After they were done, you turned on the TV; just about anything goes there and you spend many hours watching. I waited as you continued watching TV and ate your meal but again you wouldn't talk to me.

At bedtime you were totally tired. After you said good night to your family you plopped into bed and fell asleep. I had so much wanted to be part of your day. We could have had so much fun and accomplished so much together.

I love you so much that I wait every day for a thought, prayer or thanks. Well, maybe tomorrow! I'll be waiting.

Your Friend,

God

How many days, how many times has this happened?  So many people go through life without talking to God daily.

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.
James 4:8a

Nearness to God comes from a personal relationship with Him,  a personal relationship comes from talking with Him ~ it's called, Prayer.

Holiness

Time for Coffee in a Teacup!

Today I'm sharing from a study about holiness.

For many people to be 'holy' immediately brings these thoughts...

You don't walk ~ you float.
You don't talk ~ you pontificate.
You don't eat ~ you 'sup.'
You don't sleep because you're too busy with the Father's work.

Most of us have these ideas of living a holy life and it seems so unattainable.  But scripture teaches us that we can be holy, that our holiness grows as we grow closer to Jesus, becoming more like Him.

If it were not possible to live a holy life God would not have commanded it.  He said in Leviticus 19:2, "You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy."  To be holy means to be separated to God.  Being set apart to God makes us holy.

We are not made holy by doing good things.  We are made holy by faith in Christ.  Little by little as we grow and live with the Lord, we will become more like Him.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit or the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:18

As you draw closer to Him, you will continuously become more holy.  Although perfection is not totally attainable in this life, Christian maturity and holy living is something we should constantly strive toward and aim for.

Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.
Ephesians 1:4

My pictures today are of items very dear to my heart.  The crochet tablecloth was made by my grandmother.  The teapot and cup are gifts of a few years ago from my youngest daughter, Peggy.  When my second daughter, Tammy, was very young, she gave me the little hummel figurine.  And lastly, the yellow mugrug was made by me!!

Waiting For Light

I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
John 8:12

Having my coffee in a teacup this morning and enjoying this sweet book!

Wouldn't it be cool to have a lighted path in front of you that showed you where to go and what to do?  You do, you know!

Jesus is the light of the world.  Staying close to Him, reading his Word and praying means that your path will be lit.

Does that mean you always know exactly what to do at any given moment?  No.  It does mean that if you wait, He will guide you.  If you rush ahead ~ making decisions and choices on your own ~ you'll end up in darkness.

You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.
Psalm 18:28

Until Next Time
Glory in Christ and you can bask in His light forever.

Coffee in a Teacup

Enjoying this old coffeepot and pretty teacup.  My coffee taste so good this morning, I think it's because of the teacup!

I picked up my Bible a few days ago, and found myself in the book of James.  I feel the Lord sent me there, I just don't know why.  Not yet anyway.  He'll let me know in due time.

Don't  be deceived, my dear brothers.  Every good  and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.  He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
James 1:16-18

While looking through "Little Messengers of Hope" I was touched by this quote from
Maya Angelou:
We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.

And this one by Tom Bodett...
They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world.  Someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.

A few weeks ago my son-in-law gave me a couple of books that had been his Mother's.  I consider them a treasure, she was such a wonderful person.  I'm sharing a poem, written in 1910 by Harry Webb Farrington, from one of the books.

I know not that Bethlehem's Babe
Could in the Godhead be;
I only know the Manger Child
Has brought God's life to me.

I know not how that Calvary's Cross
A world from sin could free;
I only know its matchless love
Has brought God's love to me.

I know not how that Joseph's tomb
Could solve death's mystery;
I only know a living Christ,
Our immortality.

Sharing from my scrapbook.

Friendship

Tuesday's Coffee in a Teacup!

I love drinking coffee from a teacup, it's kinda like playing 'dress-up.'

I've been thinking a lot about friendship lately.  It's wonderful to have friends.  They are an indispensable part of a meaningful life.  We can share our burdens with good friends, they stick by us  in our joys and sorrows.  We need friends who will pray for us in good times and in bad times, friends that listen to us and lend a comforting hand and an understanding ear when needed.

There's a special kind of freedom women enjoy, freedom to share innermost thoughts, to ask a favor, to show their true feeling and the freedom simply to be themselves.

There's nothing I love better than fellowship sistership with dear friends!

A friend is somebody who loves us with understanding, as well as emotion.
Robert Louis Stevenson

The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.
Proverbs 27:9 NLT

The happiest business in all the world
is that of making friends,
And no investment on the street
pays larger dividends.
For life is more than stocks and bonds,
and love that rate percent.
And she who gives in friendships name
shall reap what she has spent.

If we would build on a sure foundation in friendship, we must love friends for their sake rather than for our own.
Charlotte Bronte

The Miracle of Friendship

There's a miracle called friendship
That dwells within the heart.
And you don't know how it happens
Or when it gets its start.
But the happiness it brings you
Always gives a special lift,
And you realize that friendship
Is life's most precious gift.

Not only do we need good friends,
we need to be a good friend.

Sharing the friendship prayer of my GLOW group.

Lord please give my treasured friends
Love and blessings without end.
Bring contentment in their life;
Comfort them in times of strife.
Always keep them safe and secure;
Let their path to You be sure.
Lord, I pray my friends will be
Close to You, eternally.

Amen

A friend loves at all times, and is born, as is a brother, for adversity.

The Gift of Friendship

Friendship is a priceless gift
That can't be bought or sold,
But its value is far greater
Than a mountain made of gold

For gold is cold and lifeless,
It cannot see or hear,
And in your times of trouble,
It is powerless to cheer

It has no ears to listen
No heart to understand.
It cannot bring you comfort
Or reach out a helping hand.

So when you ask God for a gift,
Be thankful that he sends,
Not diamonds, pearls, or riches,
But the love of a real, true friend.
