Have I mentioned lately how hot it is on the porch? I know I have, but it's really hot out there! I did manage to make a pretty setting for my coffee and I did take a few sips before running back inside to the AC.
I love pink, it made the heat seem cooler.
Well, not really.
Well, not really.
Many years ago Mr D and I were going thru some tough times. A situation in our life that was very stressful. During that time someone gave me a little card, on that card were these words:
Serenity Prayer
Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
That short little prayer encouraged me beyond measure. I put it on my dresser where I could easily see it as I got ready for work. I read it and I prayed it.

It blessed me and encouraged me. Years later my brother-in-law was going thru a very sad situation. I gave him my card. I hope it helped him as it helped me.
Although known most widely in its abbreviated form above, the entire prayer reads as follows...
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen

I don't think I've ever read the entire poem....so glad you posted it all. You are an encouragor, Ms. Mary. Your faith and love shines through every time you write here. Happy Monday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the rest of the poem, Mary, I didn't know there were more.I always learn something from your post..
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day!
I think it is hot everywhere, my friend...I have to remind myself it is summer. I have the very same prayer on a bookmark I have/use. You are truly an inspiration, Mary. Thank you. Have a Blessed Monday.
ReplyDeleteP.S. LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Your pink!! Beautiful. (forgot to add that, smiles)
ReplyDeleteAwe...I love your Coffee Vignette. So pretty Miss Mary. Oh I love how you have your cross in that frame. That is a frame right? Love it. Well, your right...the color pink doesn't help with the heat but it sure makes things pretty! We all need encouragement. Our Sunday School teacher challenged us to be an encourager to someone in the Body of Christ this week that puts time, effort and prayer into their ministry. Love this post today. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI've not heard the other verse, so thank you for sharing it. I love the Serenity Prayer and all of your pink is just lovely. Cooler temps are coming. I can't believe how fast the summer is going.

Do send some of your warm sunshine over this way...how chilly it is in South Africa today! My fingers don't want to work:)
And thank you for always leaving me the sweetest comments...I truly apprecaite them!
Wishing you the most wonderful day, dear Mary!
