God is Love

Deuteronomy 7:9

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God  who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,

It's hard to grasp how deeply God cares for us, because our firsthand experiences of love comes from relationships with imperfect people.  But God's love is different.  With God, we need never fear condemnation, misunderstanding, or rejection.  He completely understands what we say and how we feel ~ and loves us without condition.  Since God is never fickle or self-centered, we can risk opening up every part of our lives to Him.  We can risk returning the love He so freely gives.

The Bible says love is the greatest of all virtues ~ and it must be true, for that is where all others begin and end.  I was God's love that caused Him to create us and His love that bought us back when sin separated us from Him.  It is His love in our hearts that fuels kindness, gentleness, meekness, faith, and joy in our lives.  God's love surrounds us.

As high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him.

Psalm 103:11
