I am reading the best book, one of those where you feel you are a personal friend of the characters. It's a true story, the story of Capt. Dale Black, written by Capt. Dale Black.
A Plane Crash
A Journey to Heaven....And Back
A Pilot's True Story
Captain Dale Black has flown as a commercial pilot all over the world, but one flight changed his life forever ~ an amazing journey to heaven and back.
July 1969
July 1969
The only survivor of a fatal plane crash when he was just 19, Dale was hovering between life and death when he had a wondrous experience of heaven. What he saw, what he heard, and what he learned there continues to ripple through his life and touch others.
Against all odds, Dale miraculously recovered from his injuries and learned to fly again. Now, in his own words, he describes a joyous journey to a more perfect world.
So begins Captain Dale Black's astonishing journey to heaven and back ~ a journey that changed his life forever but that has taken him 40 years to fully share with the world.
It takes Dale, the only survivor of a horrific plane crash, years to piece together all the details of the accident and its aftermath, but gradually he realizes that his journey to heaven is only one of the miracles in his life ~ and that God had spared him for good reason.
His body, so badly broken, begins a miraculous recovery. His blind eye begins to see; his crippled shoulder recovers; his ankle, robbed of circulation and declared "dead bone" by his doctors, suddenly heals itself.....and Dale's amazing spirit leads him to not only seek opportunities to fly again but to set himself the goal of becoming a licensed pilot in order to spread God's word all over the world.
You will be thrilled at Dale's real life adventures, including another near-crash in Zambia, and marvel at how he transforms tragic circumstances into opportunities to make the world a better place for all.
Dale's visit to heaven is wonderful, but what touched my heart is his testimony of faith. This man has been on a life long journey not just serving the Lord, but loving him deeply, honestly, and passionately.
This is one of the things he says about heaven....
Part of the joy I was experiencing was not only the presence of everything wonderful but the absence of everything terrible. There was no strife, no competition, no sarcasm, no betrayal, no deception, no lies, no murders, no unfaithfulness, no disloyalty, nothing contrary to the light and life and love.
About faith, he says....
I've learned that your faith will be tested in order to be strengthened. Understand it is not God testing your faith, but He is allowing it to be tested to determine whether you really believe in your heart what God has promised. God's will is what you're looking for, and His will is found in His Word. He will never violate His Word.
My faith grew as I studied the Bible and replaced my doubts with increasing faith in the promises of God.
About healing he says....
I should have been seeking the Healer before the healing. I wanted a miracle more that I wanted the Miracle Worker.
Scriptures used or referred to....
By Faith We Understand
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Matthew 6:33
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6
Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalm 91:1
I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him.
Deuteronomy 18:18
Capt. Black didn't spend a lot of time speaking of his visit to heaven, mostly he spoke of his journey of faith and coming into a deeper relationship with God.
A very touching story.
There is another awesome book-- by Don Piper, "90 Minutes in Heaven." We met him---you might enjoy that one too...smiles
