Confidence and Compassion in Prayer

You can talk to God because God listens.  Your voice matters in heaven.  He takes you very seriously and when you enter His presence even the angels turn to you to hear your voice.  No need to fear that you will be ignored, even if you stammer or stumble, even if what you have to say impresses no one, it impresses God ~ and He listens.

I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.
Because he turned his ear to me,
I will call on him as long as I live.
Psalm 116:1-2

He listens with compassion and love, just like we do when our children come to us.  He delights in our presence
(and I delight in His presence).
When we go to Him with our prayers we discover something of unimaginable value.

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
1 John 5:14-15

We discover that by praying, we learn to pray.

Talk to Him!
He's Listening!

  5. Thank you for sharing this with us today. Yes, we just need to be willing to open up and bare our hearts before the Lord...and He will always be there to soothe, comfort, listen, and encourage us. Of course, He already knows what's going on inside of us, but it helps us to express it to Him, in faith, believing that He is listening...whether we speak it out loud or whisper it in our hearts, He hears us. Thank you for this today. Have a blessed SONday!

  7. Mary, i remember an old hymn whose words said, Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer. That really spoke to me about being persistent in prayer even when it seems God is not answering. As an older person I can look back and see God was at work when I did not realize it at the time. Thanks for sharing this good post.
