May is the month
Of sunshine and flowers
Birds in their nests,
And one or two showers.
Games to play and a kite to fly
Or just looking at the sky.
We could spend a year this way
if the year were made of May.

Years ago May Baskets were a tradition among family and friends. Small baskets of sweets and flowers would be left anonymously on their doorstep.
Sounds like a fun thing to do, maybe we should bring it back!

ReplyDeleteI didn't grow up with any tradition regarding May Day but flowers always sound like a good idea. My neighbour got a huge bouquet delivered to her door today but she has been ill so maybe it had nothing to do with the first of May.
