I've been enjoying reading The Gospel of Luke the past several days.  There are 24 chapters and 24 days until Christmas, reading one chapter a day will take me to the day we celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus.

Written Between A.D. 59 and 65, the first four chapters of Luke can be described as the preparation for His ministry.

Chapters 4 – 19 record Jesus' miraculous ministry in Galilee, Judea and Perea

Chapters 19 – 24 start from the Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, and the events leading up to His crucifixion, resurrection and ministry to the Apostles; before his ascension up to Heaven.

Luke is described by some as the most beautiful book in the New Testament, and with good reason. It is well written out in orderly fashion, by a man who was most probably a physician of Gentile birth; and someone who obviously had a real concern for the ‘common people.’

The main focus of this book is that of Jesus the healer and comforter, as well as a good teller of parables; through which He instructs them on many aspects of life both physical and spiritual.

‘Gospel’ means ‘Good News,’ and Luke certainly gives us that, with a true and honest account of Jesus life in a beautifully presented order.

The past few days have been so nice, sunny and cool, just the way I like it.

Sunday afternoon the grandsons came over and played music with Mr. D, they had a great time.  One of our grandsons plays guitar and sings, one plays base guitar, one plays rhythm and lead and one plays the drums.  We have our own family band.  They're putting together a show for our family Christmas get-together.

We went to Luby's yesterday, they always have chicken and rice soup on Monday's and Mr D loves it! So, Monday is always Luby's Day.

I still have some Christmas decorating to do, maybe I'll finish today.

Until Next Time

  2. Mother could still quote Luke 2 that she memorized as a child, shortly before her death at 78. I love to listen to the KJV audio Bible because that's what I studied as a child. Your decorations are lovely. Keep posting photos of them.

  5. I just love the idea of a family band. My youngest son is very musical and plays various instruments but he's the only one.

  6. Thank you for sharing those thoughts and facts about the book of Luke, which is definitely one of my favorites of the Gospels. He tells the Christmas story in the most beautiful way. Oh, I love that your family is so musical. It would be wonderful to have a video of their Christmas program they are putting together. You must be sure some one records it...and maybe you can share some of it here or on facebook! We'd love to see it. Enjoy your week. God bless you always.
