Food Glorious Food!
Welcome to another Tuesday 4 started by Toni Taddeo and kept up in her honor and memory by Annie!
Let's talk about food and shopping!
Let's talk about food and shopping!
1. How often do you find yourself shopping for groceries?
There was a time when I bought groceries once a week, now we go for a few things to get us through a few days. We eat out so much we don't have a need to buy a lot of groceries. We eat out because I have a gas stove and I'm on oxygen, oxygen and fire don't go well together.
2. Do you have a favorite night time snack?
We both love ice cream for a nighttime snack and we try hard not to have it every night. Neither of us need the extra calories.
3. Do you buy in bulk and what kinds of tips do you have to save money on grocery shopping?
Once again, we don't buy a lot so there is no need to buy anything in bulk, I also live in a smaller home and storage is a problem. Buying in bulk is great for younger families with children.
4. Let's have a picnic in the park.
What foods are we packing and will we cook anything there or is it all prepared ahead of time?
I would make some deviled eggs, potato salad and fried chicken. A big thermos of ice tea and a thermos of coffee. I would probably have something easy for dessert, maybe cookies. We haven't been on a picnic in a long time, we enjoy cookouts at home. Two of my daughters have such nice backyards, barbecue areas and a pool to enjoy.
Having a smaller home does limit storage. I had a big pantry in my previous home. But we downsized and there is less space. We tend to keep extra things so that we always have snacks and goodies for the grands. I never thought about cooking and using oxygen. I love deviled eggs!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm going to crash your picnic because you're having deviled eggs. I totally forgot about them. When it comes to buying in bulk, space definitely hinders how much you can buy, but I also find that as I get older I just don't feel like hauling those big bundles to the car and then into the house and figuring out where to put it. I'd much rather tote smaller bags these days. Have a great day, Mary!
ReplyDeleteI am not a picnic person but I would go on yours Mary!!
ReplyDeleteSlapping my head; CHICKEN AND POTATO SALAD! DUH!!!! lol
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your answers, Mary. Have a beautiful day friend. smiles

That is very interesting about your gas stove. I totally understand why you would eat out. We love Costco's vanilla ice cream and try to have one scoop once a week. I totally forgot about deviled eggs, great answer.
ReplyDeleteYum to deviled eggs!! I prefer a little sugar in my deviled eggs rather than more savory. I will even eat deviled eggs for breakfast! A backyard BBQ is always fun. I don't consider that a picnic though. Fun questions this week!
ReplyDeleteSmart idea to eat out rather than use the stove for sure! I really love deviled eggs and my grandmother used to make pickled eggs by soaking them in beet juice which I used to love.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in Mary.
I can't help but chuckle Miss Mary. I just commented on Linda's post (Simply Linda) and guess what I told her I'd be carrying on the picnic? YEP, fried chicken! LOL! Hugs and blessings to you. Cindy
ReplyDeleteI like all your answers although I must admit to not liking deviled eggs. Seems everyone else loves them
ReplyDeleteI LOVE deviled eggs, too. And like yours, our home has limited storage. I could stand to be a better planner, but my hubby likes having an excuse to get out to the store several times a week and socialize. :)
ReplyDeleteIn a small town you always run into someone you know! I like it :)
DeleteWe have recently become empty nesters, and I understand better why it is much easier to dine out than to cook. It is a lot of work to cook for two. I'm sorry that you are having to be on oxygen, and definitely not a good idea to cook around a gas stove! Those sweet treats sound wonderful, although my husband and I went off sugar about a year ago. We have felt SO much better since doing so. We occasionally splurge, but our treat now is to enjoy a small dish of berries and milk in the evening instead of a cookie or dessert. It fills that need :) Much love to you sweet friend!
