Monday's Coffee Chat

Monday Again and Time for Coffee!  (or tea)

On the porch is where I sit,
enjoying my coffee sip by sip.
The coffee's hot, the weather is too
I'm going back in the house! 😊

 Today's Quote:
“Do you know how helpless you feel if you have a full cup of coffee in your hand and you start to sneeze? ”
Jean Kerr

This quote made me laugh because I've been there, done that!

Today's Trivia
A coffee break originated in the mid 20th century, J.B. Watson’s Ad for Maxwell House Coffee featured the slogan “Take a break” and the coffee company promoted the idea that people should have a break in their workday for drinking coffee. This was called a “coffee break!”

This Day in History

Congress approves Great Seal of the United States of America with the bald eagle as its symbol

Today's Treasure
The little black New Testament Bible belonged to my mother-n-love, Anna Marie.  In the front cover I found her maiden name and written under it was her married name.  That leads me to believe this little bible belonged to her before she married in 1936.  The copyright page is no longer there so I have no idea the date of the bible.  Just holding it you know it's old, very old.

On the last page this is written. .
The New Testament contains
27 books
260 chapters
7957 verses
180751 words

Mr D and I feel so blessed that this little treasure made it to our home.

Today's Scripture
I will be glad and rejoice in You;
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
Psalm 9:2

  4. How exciting for the kids having their brand new home!! Is this the couple with Hazel Kay and a new one on the way? If so, they need that new house!! So happy for them. I enjoyed your poem and the little trivia items you shared. But especially I love the New Testament from your mother in love. That IS a treasure for sure. I love having an old Bible from a loved one. It's like a love letter to us as well, knowing that person learned about Jesus through the pages of that little book. It's a life-line for certain. I enjoyed your post so much. So glad you are writing again.

  5. What a treasure, that New Testament. Sometimes I hold my late mother's little book, imagining the feel of her fingers on the same leather. Wishing Matt and Kaylea much joy in their new home!

  6. It is so sweet to have family treasures! I have my grandfather's Bible with an inscription in the inside cover that sounds like it could have been written by his mother. It is small and the print is so tiny, I have no idea how they read it!
