Book Worms
Time for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we are challenged to think, discover and make new friends through blogging. Hosted by Annie, thank you Annie♥
1. Did any book besides the bible have an impact on your life or beliefs?
I have read so many books over the years, I'm sure there have been some that touched me more than others. I read the entire Left Behind series, they were great and really made me start studying Bible Prophecy, I find it so inspiring.
2. What books influenced you as a young person.?
Once again, I don't know if I was influenced so much, but I sure did enjoy reading Great Expectations when I was in the 6th or 7th grade. My English lit class read the book together, our teacher was awesome and made the whole experience great. Nothing like a great teacher to keep you interested.
3. Do you continue educating yourself by reading books or listening to podcasts or lectures?
I do, I spend many hours doing this very thing. Once again, I love prophecy and I'm always looking/reading/listening for good teachers on the subject. I also do some online Bible studies when I can find them.
4. Have you ever sat in a coffee shop/restaurant/cafe reading a book? What is your preferred place to read?
I have done that, but not often. Usually it's in a hospital coffee shop, sometimes you're there with a loved one for many hours, reading is a good way to pass the time and get your mind off your troubles. I prefer to read at home, in my comfortable chair, with a hot cup of coffee on the side table and dogbabies sleeping at my feet.

Hi Mary! I hope you're doing well! I was also very influenced by the Left Behind series. Even after all these years, I still refer back to some of what I read there, when I see things going on in the world.
ReplyDeleteI also prefer to read in the quiet of my own home. I get too distracted if in a public place.
It was good to see you blogging today!
Have a beautiful week!
My Tuesday 4 will post tomorrow. Good questions and I enjoyed your answers. I also read the Left Behind series, a long time ago though. Wishing you a beautiful week, as well!!

I read Great Expectations in 7th grade but could not get interested. You are right, a good teacher makes the difference. There is nothing like a cozy chair and a good cup of tea or coffee to make reading enjoyable1 I was learning about Sam Houston and found that his one son, Andrew Jackson Houston lived on West Park Ave in La Porte. I thought that was pretty interesting.
ReplyDeleteThat is very interesting, I live very close to Park Ave.

Great Expectations, yes! So true about a good teacher making learning interesting. I only remember a few such souls, but still remember them all these years later.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, you reminded me about the Left Behind Series. I still have my set and need to re-read them. Our 7th grade teacher read Great Expectations to our class and she did it so well! Her name was Mrs. Allen and she was a good teacher. I was one of the students that actually liked school. I was just not a morning person and I am still not. Enjoy your week and stay cool!
ReplyDeleteHello Mary! It's great to see your post today. I'm a bit late to the party but still here. :-) I've been influence by so many books. Frank Peretti's books, The Left Behind Series. As a child The Little House on the Prarie books were important to me and I read them over and over. Anything on the pioneer times here in the USA.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to read is cozy at home with my dog in my lap and a glass of something cold in the sumer. Iced tea or diet pepsi are my favorites.
Blessings,
Betsy
I love Frank Peretti's books!! I've even read a few of his books for teens! :)
