TOYS
It's time for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4, hosted by Annie!
Could we talk about toys? Toys are important to children and sometimes to adults as well. There are memories tied up with toys we loved, toys we miss having in our lives. We found comfort in them, excitement with them and just fun times over all.
1. What was your favorite all time toy?
I guess that would be my Tiny Tears doll. I treated her like she was real, in my heart she was♥
2. What kind of toys did you enjoy growing up?
I had a lot of dolls, paper dolls and coloring books. With three brothers, I played a lot of cowboys and indians, and cops and robbers!
I haven't shared my Paper Doll poem in a while . . .
Paper Dolls, Paper Dolls
Where did you go?
Oh how I loved you
So long ago.
I put you away
One sad day.
Thought I was
Too old to play
How I wish I had you again
And we could play and remember when
Days gone by just you and me
Oh, how wonderful that would be

3. I think certain bric a brac in the home could be a kind of grown up's toy. What is in your home just purely to make you happy?
There's so much, anything that I think is pretty is on display somewhere in the house.
The one thing that I've had for at least 50 years still has the center of attention.
This soup tureen sat on my dining room table for many years, when we downsized and no longer
had a dining room, it now sits on my bar. We don't use the bar for eating, it's used to display anything that catches my fancy.
4.What games were your favorites and do you still play any games?
I love to play games! Mr D and I played a lot of 42 in our time, dominoes are a great thing to have. I like to play Scramble, one summer many years ago our grandson Blake would come to our house after school and stay with us until his mom would pick him up when she got off work. That year, he and I played Scramble every afternoon, he was in the 5th grade that year and he would try to bamboozle me into accepting words I knew didn't exist. We had so much fun. I also like to play canasta; my cousin and I would play canasta for hours and hours. In truth, I'm always up for a fun game of anything. I downloaded Solitaire on my laptop, it has about 50 different solitaire games and I play every day.
Tuesday 4 - always fun♥ You can join in HERE!
Blessings to All
Until Next Time
Hi Mary. That soup tureen is beautiful and I love your paper doll poem. I remember playing with paper dolls. Do you remember Betsy McCall in the back of the McCall's magazine?
ReplyDeleteI sure do remember Betsy McCall, haven't thought of that is years. Thanks for reminding me. ☺♥
DeleteI still have my teddies!

DeleteI loved my tiny tears doll! My mom had to hide the little baby bottle that you fed her water with, because when tiny tears cried, I did too! My grandmother even made us matching dresses!
ReplyDeleteMatching dresses, I would have loved that! ☺♥
DeleteMuch to my mother's dismay, I never cottoned much to dolls -- preferring to play with my plastic horses and cowboys. Canasta! When my aunt came to visit about my 13th year she taught mother and I to play. I was hooked and pestered my mom relentlessly to sit and play. Not sure how that fell out of favor, but now I'm wondering if a version can't be found on my phone.
ReplyDeleteWish I knew someone that could play, I would love a good game!
Delete"Tiny Tears doll"
ReplyDeleteThe one that cried?
My sister had the one that ate. What a mess! 😀
Yes, she cried real tears. I never had one that ate, I can see where that would be very messy. :)
ReplyDeleteMy teddy is with me to the end! I do online puzzles from a French site. In French they are called casse tete or broken head !!
ReplyDeleteMy gramma used to give me paper dolls. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I had a FAVORITE toy.
My Lincoln logs were a big hit with me.
I was mostly outside playing in the woods!
Oh my gosh! Finally someone else had Tiny Tears!! I was very young - 4 or 5 - when I got her for Christmas. She took her bottle and wet her pants! Mary, I have a soup tureen that I never use because it is so decorative and precious to me!! Yours is lovely!! I also play solitaire every day. Just one game, just before bed. A fun post!! xo

DeleteOh, I love Canasta, haven't played in a long time, smiles. Have a beautiful evening, friend.

DeleteI still have my teddy bear from when I was little. He's missing an eye and a LOT worse for the wear but I still love him. We play dominoes, scrabble, rarely monopoly. We both play solitaire on our phones. Piper likes to play UNO and Skip-bo with us.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy

DeleteMary, a friend once taught me to play Cribbage. Every day on our lunch break at work, we would play a round and it was so much fun! It's been years and I've forgotten how to play. My husband and I loved to play Phase 10 and it's still a family favorite when we visit my mom and aunt. Lots of laughs and fun times.
