Temps are finally down from being 100+ and porch sitting is tolerable once again. It's still hot but not that overbearing I'm in a furnace heat. So, Mr D and I were able to get some work done out there. The severe heat wave certainly took it's toll on our plants and yard.
The red hibiscus is still standing tall and happy. It's leaves are a pretty dark green, no yellow ones to be found. The yellow hibiscus just couldn't keep up in the heat and succumbed to a heat stroke. {{sigh}}
The ivy did well and is still pretty.
We almost lost this plant during last years freeze, but it came back strong only to struggle during the heat wave. It's going to be okay, maybe it'll grow some more before winter sets in. We still have lots of time for that to happen.
Mr D's old pick-up! He likes this little toy.

Through the rain, the dirt, the snow, the muck

A small flower still left for us to enjoy.
We had a good rain last night and a 70% chance of more rain today. That is great news!!
Blessings to all
Until Next Time
Amazing that any flowers at all can stand your summer heat. Nice to have some colour. Strange that the red Hibiscus is doing fine but the yellow one didn't do so well. Have a lovely weekend...and enjoy sitting on the porch now that it's a bit less hot. Granny M
ReplyDeleteWhen I finally gave up on my plants, the rain came! lol

Glad to hear the weather's turning in the right direction! We're not quite there yet, save early mornings. (My favorite time of day, anyway.)
ReplyDeleteThat red hibiscus isn't merely pretty, but hearty too! The yellow is my favorite, but perhaps it was its time. Is it my eyes, or do I spot a little yellow duck's face amid the ivy in that planter?
Yay for "cooler" weather! Even a couple of degrees makes a difference, doesn't it? And rain! Oh Glorious Rain! I love a rainy day with clouds to hid the sun for a while so we can enjoy looking outside w/o having to close the blinds in the heat of the day. Oh, I LOVE Mr. D's little pick up truck! That is just perfect!! I wouldn't mind having a REAL pickup truck like that, maybe in a cherry red! Have a blessed and wonderful weekend. Your flowers /plants are lovely!!!
ReplyDeleteLove porch sitting.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got some rain.
Like the pick-up :)
Mary, the rain has been so nice the past two days! It's cooler and there is hope for our grass and plants, after all :) Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt has been a hot summer! It's a wonder we are all still standing tall! I loved looking at your plants with you! Enjoy that porch!! xo
