Gone With The Wind

1. Have you read the book or seen the movie Gone with the Wind and what did you think of it?
I have seen the movie several times and love it.

2; Which character was your favorite? If you didn't read it or see it. who is your favorite fictional character from a book or movie and why?
Of course I like Rhett Butler, so handsome and debonair.  With that said, my favorite fictional character from a book is Father Tim from The Mitford Series by Jan Karon.

Father Timothy Andrew Kavanagh (Father Tim) turns sixty in At Home in Mitford. We follow him over the next decade and more of his life as an ordinary man, filled with the mundane and the miraculous.

Born June 28, as an only child in Holly Springs, Mississippi, to a warm-spirited Baptist mother and a coldly indifferent Episcopalian father, he was an old soul from an early age. Father Tim lives on Wisteria Lane with his wife, Cynthia Kavanagh (nee Coppersmith).

Enjoys Wordsworth, Oswald Chambers, C.S. Lewis, George McDonald, and the two books of Timothy from the Bible.

3. Are you a fan of big epic films like Dr. Zhivago, Gone with the Wind, etc." If not what kind of films do you enjoy the most?
I do enjoy the big epic films; my favorite movies are those in which they live happily ever after and the good guys wear white hats! I guess that's a little ho-hum, but with the world in the shape it's in, they make me feel good.

4. The Ante Bellum era is indeed gone with the wind. Is there an era in history that you are interested in or that you have a good deal of knowledge about? Perhaps there is an era you would like to learn more about?
I have always enjoyed anything from the 1940's - style, books, movies, home decor . . I like it all.  EXCEPT the war, I don't like war.

  2. I've often wished I might have experienced the 40's in my teens -- or even my 20's. The clothing and the manners ... especially the pride in one's Country (*sigh*).

  3. I read all of the Mitford books years and years ago. I really need to revisit them! Thanks for the reminder! I also love much from the 40s except the war!

  7. I had a teenage crush on Rhett Butler and he was dead! :) I wanted Rhett and Scarlet to stay together. I wish Margaret Mitchell would have written a sequel before she died. I have never read the Midford books. I should check out the library. I mostly read Christian themed books now.

  8. I enjoyed your answers Mary. I too loved certain aspects of the 1040s. I like watching movies from that era to enjoy women's fashions of that time.

  9. Lots of people in England are followers of the 1940's styling. I love the 50's, personally.
