It’s just past 5 a.m., and already the thermometer reads 81 degrees—looks like we’re in for another scorcher. I’m up much too early, but sometimes the quiet calls before the sun does. I brewed a small pot of coffee, just two cups—saving the big one for when Mr. D wakes up. We’ve both been under the weather this past week, fighting off stubborn upper respiratory infections. Still feeling a little puny, but we're hanging in there together.
I would love nothing more than to sit out on the porch and greet the sunrise, but the heat and humidity are already heavy in the air. So instead, I’ll settle into the comfort of my home, cup in hand, and soak in the early morning stillness. It’s peaceful here—soft, sacred quiet before the world stirs awake. Honestly, I can’t imagine a better place to be.
I think Rusty may be up too—I see the gentle glow of his light spilling from under his door. Another day is beginning, slowly and quietly, just as I like it.
I am sorry you are not feeling well, I pray you both start feeling better soon. Wishing you a lovely day my friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, wishing you a lovely day too☺♥
DeleteSo sorry you and Mr. D have been feeling under the weather. Your early morning ritual sounds perfect ... not unlike taking communion with the One who loves us most. I hope your day is blessed!
ReplyDeleteLove and blessings back to you☺♥
DeleteSlowly and quietly is the best way to begin any day! I am sorry that you are not feeling well, Mary. Beautiful photo and Scripture verse. You are in my prayers. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteThank you☺♥
DeleteHope you get some cooler weather so you can sit out on the porch. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, I hope so too. ☺♥
DeleteI sincerely pray that your and Mr. D will be 100% over that nasty virus in the next few days! The heat and humidity are keeping me inside as well, but cooler temps are always coming. Blessings wished for you in the days ahead!
ReplyDeleteAs bad as the heat is we usually have a breeze from the bay, it's the humidity that gets us . . . seems so much hotter than it really is. Blessings to you also.
DeleteI sure you you both will be on the mend soon. I, too, find home to be my very favorite place to be, although I do still like traveling. We woke up to thundershowers this morning and drove to church in the rain. More expected for tonight which is making the farmers around here happy.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
We had some showers this morning, my yard and shrubs needed it!! Blessings and hugs back to you dear lady.☺♥
DeleteOh, I am sorry you've both had the upper respiratory stuff...that's no fun, especially in the summertime! I've been dealing with some allergies and slight cough too...finally took some cough syrup last night and it knocked me out! LOL. I needed a good night's sleep! Praying you will both be back to 100% soon. I know what you mean about wishing you could sit out on the porch early in the morning and drink your coffee. I would love to do that too (except it's tea for me), but you are right...it is just too muggy and hot to do that right now...so sitting in the cool house in the early morning quiet is just as nice (nicer). We'll look forward to more porch sitting times when summer is over. Take care my friend and stay well. Is Rusty your son? I guess I didn't realize you had someone living with you? I'm sure that's a comfort...!
ReplyDeleteRusty is our son and is living with us for a while. He's our youngest and an ol' bachelor!! lol
DeleteHi Mary, I hope you and the Mr. D. feel better soon! Is Rusty a relative? Early riser like you. Sleep is so important! I have been sleeping better. Maybe because I am going to bed earlier and reading. Our days have been hot, in the mid 90's but no humidity. I have been cleaning out the back porch so I can sit outside. Take care of yourselves and enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you both have been feeling unwell. Hopefully soon you'll feel much better. I can understand how that heat keeps you indoors. Summer weather can be just too hot!
