Morning Musings Over Coffee
This morning, I’m enjoying my coffee at the kitchen table, soaking in the familiar view from the windows. It’s the same scene I see every day—yet today, it feels a little brighter. After a long stretch of cloudy, rainy days, the sun is finally shining again! Even though the day ahead promises to be hot, the sunlight feels refreshing, and I can already feel a welcome boost of energy.
I was up extra early today, so I made a small pot of coffee—just enough for myself. I try not to start the big coffee maker before Mr. D gets up; he loves his cup freshly brewed in the morning, and I like to let him have that little joy. Of course, being up before dawn means I’ll be running on fumes by this afternoon, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep.
As I sit here, I’m reminded that my kitchen window view is changing. Another new house is going up—this one on the last vacant lot on our street. When we first moved here, there was only one home across the road. Now every lot is filled. I suppose that’s progress, but I do miss the trees they had to clear. We used to see so many birds and squirrels out back; now, they’ve moved on to quieter places. That’s just life in town, I guess—nothing stays the same forever.
Mr D received a gift card to our favorite Tex-Mex restaurant, maybe we'll go eat later. Gringo's - they have the best green sauce, YUMMY♥
Praying for Peace—In Jerusalem and Beyond
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May those who love you be secure.’” – Psalm 122:6
This verse is more than a call to pray for one city—it’s an invitation to seek God’s peace for His people, His promises, and His presence in a world so often marked by unrest.
As I sip my morning coffee and take in the quiet around me, I’m reminded how desperately our world needs peace—not only in Jerusalem, the heart of biblical history, but in every corner of the globe. From war-torn nations to struggling families, from divided communities to weary hearts—peace feels rare, yet it is not beyond God’s reach.
When we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, we align our hearts with God’s desire for restoration, unity, and hope. And as we do, we can also extend that prayer outward—asking the Lord to bring healing to our neighborhoods, comfort to the brokenhearted, and wisdom to the leaders of nations.
Peace begins with prayer. It grows in our hearts, in our homes, and in our habits. May we be people who carry that peace wherever we go—and may we never stop praying for it, near and far.
Lord, bring peace to Jerusalem. Bring peace to our world. And let it begin in me. Amen.
Blessings to All
Until Next Time
Amen to your prayer for Jerusalem and our world and country and neighborhood and everyone in our lives. There is so much going on around us, so many who just do not have the peace that comes in knowing Christ, and many are so burdened and afraid. May the Lord open their eyes and share His love and truth with them. May all hearts turn toward God in these troublesome days. I love your morning coffee time. Thank you for sharing it with us. I know waht you mean about houses going up and trees going down. I also prefer the quietness of nature and God's beautiful creation...but God's people are important too, and I pray for good new neighbors for you and also for me here in my neighborhood! Amen! Have a lovely day. Enjoy your lunch/dinner out if you decide to go!
ReplyDeleteOh Pam, I have such a burden on my heart for those who don't know our Lord. I pray they find their way into His loving arms of forgiveness and redemption. As I pray for peace for the world, I am so thankful that I have peace knowing that these things must happen before His return. Still, we must pray for peace that surpasses all understanding. Bless you my friend, hope you also have a lovely day. Our sunshine is gradually leaving and rain clouds are coming back, we might eat at home today. ☺
DeleteAmen! Thanks for your reminder to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and all the world. I am saddened by what is happening in our country, as well as, across the globe. I know these things must happen because the Bible tells us so but it makes me sad, all the same.
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Pam
I agree, our world is in deep trouble, and it's sad and concerning. I take comfort in knowing He holds me with His righteous right hand, Isaiah 41:10. Blessings to you, so glad you visited today.☺♥
DeleteOh Mary I am in 100% agreement with you. These times are not only historic but spiritually significant. Our prayers are an expression of our trust and dependence on Him, acknowledging His love and wisdom in our lives.
ReplyDeleteOur morning sounds similar to yours - we’re up at dawn before sunrise, work and do all that we need to do and crash in the afternoons!
Enjoyed this post! Keep looking UP
Absolutely looking UP, for His continuing love. Hope your day is happy and blessed☺♥
DeleteI love your post! We need to bring every need to God in prayer - not just for ourselves but for others. When I see what's going on right now with Israel, my thoughts turn to prophecy and how things will happen. We are indeed living in exciting times!

Yes, early morning solitude is a precious feeling ... not too much, but like Goldilocks, "just right."
