Thursday Blessing

Mr D and I were enjoying our coffee on the porch this afternoon while reading scriptures from my Bible.  I found this poem tucked in the pages and thought I would share with you.

SHOWING JESUS

I want to be a living statement

To what our God can do.

And so, I must be careful

in the actions that I choose.

My words must be compassionate.

My actions must be kind.

My choices must be favorable

To Jesus every time.

My words and my behavior

Must point to Jesus Christ

Proclaiming of His promises

That help me get through life.

Showing of His patience,

His grace, and charity.

Reflecting of the goodness

He is inside of me.

If God indeed is Master

Of the story of my life,

Then my actions should reflect that

And my choices testify.

We had a great time yesterday!  The daughters and their hubbies came for lunch and fellowship!!!

I made it easy on myself and let Dairy Queen feed us, yep, hamburgers and french fries, iced tea and cheesecake for dessert♥

Just so ya know, the cheesecake wasn't from Dairy Queen, Mr Kroger made it for me. 😀

This picture is a few years back, but we haven't changed that much!!

Thursday Blessings

 Message from Dr. Charles Stanley

If you’ve ever been camping, you know a fire needs fuel to burn. Campers will use dry sticks and leaves to get the flames started, but when it is time to sleep, they will either starve the fire or put it out with water or dirt.

The Lord has lit a fire in every believer’s heart, and Paul warns against quenching it (1 Thess. 5:19). According to him, we must tend the flame of faith with care.

Nothing can completely extinguish the fire of salvation within believers—Jesus says, “No one will snatch them out of My hand” (John 10:28). However, it is possible for the flames to dim over time, especially when we repeatedly make choices that don’t line up with God’s Word. Sin tends to muffle the clarity of His voice in our life. It’s as if we throw cold water on our heart’s fire.

Thankfully, believers can simply fan their flame with spiritual “kindling.” Any time you choose to pray, read Scripture, confess sin, speak a kind word, or serve someone, you are stoking the fire God set in your heart. No spiritual discipline is practiced in vain.

What small step can you take today that would add dry leaves to your divine fire?

Windows

Since the heat is so bad it's keeping me from porch-sitting, I'm doing some window sitting!  We enjoy opening up the blinds and letting the outside in.

My pictures today were taken from inside the house looking out, the window screens keep the pictures from being the best.

I've mentioned before how much I enjoy this big window that looks out to the front of the house.

This window is by the table where I work my puzzles.  Mr D hung a bird feeder just outside and now I can enjoy the birds coming for supper each evening.

The other day there were 6 little birds out there fighting for a place at the table.

While I was watching the birds I was also working a puzzle.  I liked this one because I'm also just a girl who loves books.

Thursday Blessings

I've been painting birdhouses!  I have several on the porch that are old and faded, they really needed a face lift.  Of course red is my color of choice, it's such a happy color.

It was so cheery I decided to stop everything and enjoy a cup of coffee using my polka dot cup and saucer.  I must say, it was redhot on the porch so I didn't stay out long.

I love to paint so while the paint and brush were in hand I decided to freshen up my welcome birds that are by the front door.

They were so drab and weather beaten, a fresh coat of paint brought them back to life.

Life has been slow, not getting out much, only an occasional ride to make sure the world is still out there.  Mr D wanted to ride out to Lomax to see his brother, making sure he was okay.  I love Lomax, a little area west of La Porte where Mr D was raised, where we were married, where my daughter lives and so on, and so on.  A lot of our roots are there.

Both are great musicians and enjoy playing together.
