Thursday Happenings

Sipping coffee from the little pot this morning while Mr. D still slumbers peacefully. I’m at the kitchen table with the window blinds open, enjoying the quiet stillness. The neighborhood is calm—school’s out, so things are slow to stir. Just one early bird passed by, walking his dog. These truly are the lazy, hazy days of summer.

Yesterday Mr. D set out to run a few errands, but his plans were delayed by a tire issue. Thankfully, he noticed it before hitting the road—a slow leak, and sure enough, there was a nail in the sidewall. It couldn’t be patched, so a new tire was needed. And since one needed replacing, he decided to go ahead and replace them all. They were pretty well worn anyway, so it was due. Not the most exciting purchase, but a necessary one!

Now, about CORA—I picked it up a few nights ago and settled in to read. As I read there was something. . .  what is it??  Chapter one, two, three . .  then the first sentence of Chapter four and I knew — I’ve read this book before! Must’ve been ages ago, because nothing about the cover or summary jogged my memory. But now, as I turn each page, bits and pieces of the story are resurfacing like old friends. It’s still a very good read, but I’ll be on the lookout for something new soon.

On today’s lunch menu: chili dogs! We’ll have a little slaw and some chips on the side, with sodas to wash it down. A simple summer meal, but always a hit around here.

I mentioned our son Rusty in a post the other day and someone asked if he was our son.

Yes he is, a bachelor, never married and no children, living with us these days.  He is a whiz with any type of technology, our live in techy, which is nice.

Today’s Scriptures: Psalm 73:23-26

Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

In times of confusion, we can take comfort in knowing that while we may not understand everything here on earth (Psalm 73:1-22), God will be faithful and work it for our good (Romans 8:28-29). Everything we have and know here on earth is subject to decay, but our relationship with the Lord is our strength forever. His strength will not wear out, grow old, or decay. He will not abandon, fail, or forget us (Romans 8:32-39), but will bring us to him in glory.

Blessings To All

Until Next Time
